Yoga: My perspective and scientific analysis.

(edited)

Welcome to my block.

Hello friends, I am @bdariful. I hope everyone is well. I am also well. Today, I am sharing with you that yoga has become an important aspect of my life, in my own language and in the language of science.

Yoga has become an important part of my life. Initially, it was just a way of exercising, but over time I have come to understand that it is not just a way of physical exercise, but also a path of mental and spiritual development. In the light of science and experience, I can now say that yoga is a complete philosophy of life. The history of yoga is thousands of years old. The word 'yoga' comes from the Sanskrit word 'yuj', which means 'union' or 'to unite'. This connection is not only between the body and the mind, but also between the soul and the universe. 'Yoga' is one of the six main branches of ancient Indian philosophy. Maharishi Patanjali, in his 'Yoga Sutra', outlined yoga in eight steps (Ashtanga Yoga) namely Yama, Niyama, Asana, Pranayama, Vathara, Kriya, Dhyana and Samadhi. Although I have not yet fully practiced these eight steps, I have started to get its benefits through Asana and Pranayama.

In this day and age, when evidence and information are sought for every subject, the benefits of yoga have been scientifically proven. Regular yoga practice increases body flexibility, controls blood pressure, improves heart function, and maintains hormonal balance. Neuroscience studies have shown that meditation and pranayama help increase the gray matter of our brain, which improves attention, memory, and emotion control. I personally have noticed that after practicing yoga, my sleep quality has improved, stress has decreased significantly, and I feel more energetic. My concentration has even increased while working. It's like discovering a new source of energy within my body!

‎When the muscles of the body are regularly stretched and contracted, they become more flexible and blood circulation increases. Certain asanas such as Tarasana, Bhujangasana, and Pavanamuktasana keep the abdominal organs active and improve digestion. I often hear that yoga increases immunity, which is absolutely true. Because regular yoga reduces stress hormones (such as cortisol), which makes the immune system more effective. In the era we live in today, stress is a constant companion. Office, studies, social expectations, all of which often leave our minds excited, tired and anxious. I personally have found a different kind of mental peace through meditation and pranayama. ‘Anuloma-Biloma’ and ‘Bhramari Pranayama’ bring a kind of peace to my mind that cannot be expressed in words.

‎When I first started yoga, I just learned a few simple asanas by watching YouTube or using various apps. In the beginning, it was difficult, I had trouble bending my body, I could not maintain balance. But with regular practice, my body found a kind of rhythm. Now yoga is an integral part of my daily life.

‎I have noticed that if I do not do yoga for a few days in a row, my mood gets bad, I do not sleep properly, and even my day does not go smoothly. Much like a mobile phone, which does not work unless it is charged daily, my body and mind are charged through yoga.
Yoga is not only a path of personal development, it is also a social philosophy. The first two steps of Patanjali's 'Ashtanga Yoga', 'Yama' and 'Niyama', are purely moral ideals. Qualities such as non-violence, truthfulness, celibacy, non-stealing etc. are helpful in shaping a person's character. I have gradually come to understand that yoga is not just about asanas, but also about behavioral purity, purity of thought and responsibility towards the environment and society.

We are living in a digital age. As technology provides us with convenience, it has also made our minds busy and restless. I myself used to get tired of spending hours and hours on my laptop or phone. Yoga took me out of that virtual world and brought me back to the touch of nature. Now, after 30 minutes of yoga in the morning, when I hear the birds chirping or see the gentle sun, I feel that this peace is what keeps us alive. Yoga is no longer a physical exercise for me, it is a way of life, a philosophy. Through small daily practices, I am gaining some kind of control over my own body, mind and emotions. It is like a process of recognizing a world within myself.

‎I think everyone should do yoga for at least 15–20 minutes every day. It strengthens the body, calms the mind and improves the quality of life. Life is very busy, very difficult, but giving some time for yourself, for your inner peace, is enough. That's all for today. I hope you liked it. If you liked it, please comment and thank you.
