Due to the difficult situation we grew up with, most of us developed the mind set of making money no matter what the cost may be. Even at the expense of our social relationships, we push forward so long as there is money at the end of the tunnel. We didn't care wether or not there was light at the end of the tunnel, we only care about how much we will get when we reach the end of the tunnel.
This mindset has clouded our thinking to the extent that we dont think about anything else except developing ourselves to get more value and ultimately, get the bag.
One thing we fail to understand is that, during the course of getting value and the bag, we over stress ourselves, which in turns, make our health condition deteriorate slowly. This in turn makes most of us pass through one sickness or the other. Hospitals begin to feel like home because we constantly visit for one session or the other.
I'm using the word "we" because I was once like that. Even currently, I'm actually like that, though I'm trying to reduce my stress levels. Sometimes, I could be really stubborn. You know, trying to push myself to achieve a daily goal irrespective of the fact that I'm really stressed out. When I do this for some time, I end up developing transcient insomnia which is very frustrating to me.
True, we all want to accomplish our daily goals, it's actually a very good thing, but what's better is knowing when to pause, take a deep breath and huge your bed.
Increased stress levels is very bad for the health. Instead of pushing yourself to your limit, it's better to just give up, and take a rest. Remember, there are two types of stress - distress and eustress. It's better to understand when the distress is becoming too much and when to stop and take a rest.
Sleep is very important to the body. Many people, mostly gamers or anime watchers, will want to sacrifice their sleep just to play one more level, or watch one more episode of anime, even though they know that it is very bad for their health.
When you sleep, the body takes its time to repair itself, and relax your muscles. Its just like switching off your phone when it's hanging and putting it on again. You will find out that when it comes on, it will function better, and faster. It's somewhat the same as when you sleep.
It is advised to get at least, 8 hours of sleep in 24 hours, but most of us will want to get an 8 hours sleep in two hours.
There are many Ill practices we do. Even during pregnancy, some pregnant women avoid some certain nutritional stuff food because they fear it will affect their unborn child.
When I worked in an obstetric and gynaecological unit, pregnant women use to avoid snail because they think that it will make their new born to be drooling (spit coming out of their mouth always).
This is actually a misconception. Maybe somebody told them this, and they believed it immediately. You know pregnant women and trying to protect their foetus.
One thing they fail to understand is that snail is actually a good source of protein and it is good for pregnant women. During pregnancy, it is advised to get enough nutrients, that's why pregnant women are given routine medications when they come for antenatal visit.
Most of us like carbonated drinks or energy drinks. Some prefer energy drinks over water. Funny enough, when I hear the sound of a carbonated drinks being open, the first and only thing that comes to my mind is diabetes. In my mind, I will be like; this person is taking diabetes.
The amount of sugar (carbohydrate) in these drinks is too much. The craziest thing is that somebody will take two to three cans of carbonated drink in one day. Like, they are just calling sickness to come live with them rent free.
