RE: Sam’s Hangout #81 -”NEPA”

(edited)

Up NEPA!!

NEPA is a household name when it comes to power supply in Nigeria and it means National Electrical Power Authority. Before NEPA was commercialized or Privatized, it used to be the sole producer and distributor of electricity across Nigeria and some.other sources said that NEPA used to also distribute power to other regional nations in West Africa.
Today, NEPA is gone and what we have is DISCOS (Distribution Companies). These companies are liable to distributing power in their region of influence. Nigeria power supply has not been in her best in recent times. In my place of residence as I wrote this piece, the last time we had power supply is about a month now.

SOLVING NEPA PROBLEM IN NIGERIA

The first thing I would do to repair the Nigerian Electric saga is to employ the services of electrical engineers, professionals and 774 local leaders that would be giving me feedbacks as the transition will begin.

Then, all the department will get to work. We shall build at least five dams from from where electricity will be generated. Then distribution will begin in top gear.
I will ensure that the importation of generators is banned and even solar light accessories. Everyone must connect to the national grid and also pay their rates monthly. This will help drive economy and also generate revenue for the country.

Through this, a lot of skilled graduates will be employed and the labour market will reduce in term of unemployment rate.

To further strengthen the power sector, regular checks will be conducted and foster upgrade of the power generation to help you nature that there is no collapse of.powrr supply.
There will also be television or radio broadcast to inform citizens whenever there is a fault to be repaired and the time frame when light will be restored.

Customers who refuses to pay their rates will be disconnected and double the amount must be paid before they are reconnected.

With this, the power sector of our dear nation Nigeria will come alive again.
Come and speak your mind ooo

One of the problems faced by this sector is the high rate debts which has almost crumbled some of the DISCOS. Simply don't allow that Nigerian evil spirit of IGBESE enter you for any reason.
We have to be intentional.of some of these things would work.

This is massive! I wish you'd be in charge of our country's electricity already. It will sure take a lifetime for this to be implement if the leadership continues to be this corrupted.

The leadership is actually the problem, if we have intentional leaders, I think this will suffice.

I wish that this suffering ends soon.

These are indeed great methods to tackle the issue of lack of electricity in Nigeria, because it seems like everyone is on their own and nothing is working

Seriously, nothing is working because those who are meant to make the power sector work have other ways of getting their own power supply.
The entire system needs an overhaul.
