Not safe for children anymore.

It's hard to explain some things happening in the world, and I am mostly concerned about children - innocent souls who go about happily, not thinking they could be hurt or if harm would come their way. I see a lot of headlines about children being abused and can't wrap my head around the stories.

Isn't the world a place for kids anymore? Do people abuse, cheat, and bully them because they are defenseless, or has the cruelty among us gotten to this point?

We were all children at some point in our lives and can relate to how kids think or feel; we just did things the way we thought was good. We trust easily and go about our days with pure intentions - doing what we love once our bellies are filled. But it seems that the beautiful world that accommodates children ended a long time ago.

As kids, we played around, especially in the evening, and adults were always around to caution us when we got too noisy. It was all love and happiness, but all these can't happen again because of the terrible, evil things children have to experience at the hands of those who should protect them.

I am writing this with so much anger due to something that happened earlier today involving an innocent little girl, and despite the intervention of the police, I still don't feel at ease and blame the parents of the girl because of their carelessness, especially with handling a female child.

Despite everything we're seeing on the news and different blogs, I can't believe that some parents can still be careless with their kids. The world isn't the same anymore, and people should know that their kids aren't safe not only with strangers but also with neighbors and even people we call family.

If parents can't define their relationship with people properly, how will they explain to their children who can't protect themselves around these people? These children watch and copy our interactions with people, and the bad thing is that they don't know how to hold back or stop like adults would do.

Leaving kids in the care of people we barely know can cause problems in those kids' lives. The other time a neighbor wanted to leave her daughter with me, I refused to take the girl because I was too busy and couldn't watch her properly. What if something terrible happened to her under my watch, how would I explain it to her mother?

The world is a more complicated space than before, and it's the people in it who have changed a lot. We've lost compassion, discipline, self-control, and would do anything as long as it pleases us not minding the effect on the victim. To all parents, please be more mindful of your children, define relationships for them, don't leave them under people's watch because nobody will care for them like you will. Protect and guide them as you should, and may we not ruin our futures with silly mistakes we make today.

Couldn't take my mind away from the incident, hopefully this would help.
