One of my favorite quotes of all time is,

This quote suggests that it is only things that are of eternal significance that would be relevant in the afterlife. It is a perspective that prioritizes spiritual values and eternal values above temporal ones.

This quote defines my values, the best gift a man can possess is the salvation of his soul.

Luke chapter 12 verse 15 of the Holy Bible says, and He said to them "Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one's life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses.

Those words made me realize that things are not so bad in themselves but what are the opportunity costs???

Everything will end with this world, it is only the salvation of your soul that you can take out of this world.

For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his soul?? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul??? Matthew Chapter 16 verse 26.
