Back then in school, I always having the thought of having friends, though am not that kind of social person but still I never really plan to make very close friends. I was that kind of person that just like to mind my business, go for class, play small football and go back to my hostel. But life always bring people your way in funny ways.
I remember the day I met Tunde, my best friend till today. It happened during one boring afternoon when our lecturer didn’t show up. I was sitting alone under a tree beside the faculty, trying to revise my note, when he came around with football boot in his hand. He looked at me and said, “Guy, you dey play ball?” I said yes, small. He just laughed and said, “No be small, come join us.” That was how everything start.
We played that day like we had known each other before. After the match, we went to buy Suya together and we just talk about life, school wahala, and dreams. From that day, we started doing many things together reading, cooking, watching football, even attending departmental meetings.
What make our friendship strong was how we help each other. When I was broke, he will find a way to make me eat. When he fail a course, I help him with notes and extra reading. We fought sometimes, but never stayed angry for long. I use to call him a brother, not just a friend.
Even when we geaduated from school, we still keep in touch with each other. we always laugh about those days we use to share one plate of rice and still argue about who eat the meat first, even on premier league football matches.
Looking back now, I realize school is not only about books. It’s also about people the ones that turn ordinary days into memories. Friendship like that make school life sweet and something you can never forget.
