Threshing Grains, Weaving Memories - A Harvest of Togetherness moment with my Big Happy Family!

Greetings to all family and friends here on hive especially here @familyandfriends community!

Here I am again, sharing another glimpse of our simple and humble but happy family moments.

Just like the last time we visited our parents, we happened to witness a beautiful family scene, they were harvesting rice, and at that moment they were threshing the grains together with many children. Those children were actually my nephews and nieces, the kids of my eight siblings. This is one of the blessings of having a big family, work gets done much faster. But of course, this only happens once in a while, during planting and harvest season.

My family life was simple. The rice we ate came directly from the rice fields we made and cultivated ourselves when we are young. That is why when I see my nieces and nephews working together in the fields, even though they are young and working like little ants in the rice fields, I can’t help but feel tears of joy, because even at a young age, they are so hardworking and willing to help.

It took two days before all the rice was finally threshed, and even my husband who never tried to harvest and thresh grains helped in assisting the ones operating the thresher. After two days of threshing, the work was done, and we were all so happy because my parents had a bountiful harvest. They even gave us a sack of rice to take home. hehe

It’s such a joy to look back, it feels like only yesterday when we were the children carrying the harvested garins. Now it’s our kids who carry them, though only little by little. We no longer need to call on our cousins or neighbors for help during harvest. Instead, we siblings call on one another together with our kids, unite, and go back home to help with the harvest.

But since I live far away, my husband and I can only help during harvest once in a while. Just like this time, we had less work to do in our garden, so we went back to our hometown and it so happened that they were harvesting. I was so happy to see them.

I can see how happy our parents are whenever we are complete at home. And of course, we are happy too, because despite our simple life, we are able to visit them and share in these moments. At the end of the day, what matters most is not wealth, but joy and togetherness.
