When something is less expensive there is almost always a reason. Find the reason, figure out if you are OK with that, and then save money :)
I'm sorry the Freepods sacrifice was microphone quality for phone calls but at least they sound good for music :)
Considering how little I talk on the phone they might be great for me (I listen far more than I talk). Wish they worked better for you.

That's actually really brilliant. Indeed, the earphones are not as costly as they should be, and I should have guessed that it couldn't have been perfect and some areas would lack. It turned out to be the microphone. That's a bummer. But it might be great for you, since you don't usually do phone calls often.
