Hello Hello to all Hivians and indeed anyone reading this.
Some of my favourite posts to write on Hive are the feathered friends posts, especially as the rewards go to buying their food in the park.
The pictures in this post were all taken on Sunday August 31st 2025 in a park in Perth.

This is the 51st (Highland) Division War Memorial located in the North Inch public park in Perth.
It was dedicated on May 13, 1995 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the end of World War II in Europe.

We had sat down at a bunch to have lunch when I spied this wee chappy on his own.

So I had a wee chat with him ...
By the left, quick march!

The black headed gull or Chroicocephalus ridibundus is not really a black headed gull at all! The black is chocolate brown and in reality for much of the year it is white like in the picture.

The orange beak is pretty sharp, and they are wee buggers.
Did you know there are 130,000 pairs almost the same in dollars as one Bitcoin!

(Chroicocephalus ridibundus)

They are not really seagulls as such, as you as likely to see them inland as you are on the coast.

This post though, is an entry for this week's Feathered Friends - Show Me A Photo Contest Round 239 hosted by the wonderful @nelinoeva in the fantastic Feathered Friends community on Hive

Eyeing up the Prize
That was a tricky choice to make and a process of elimination.
I think the head portrait takes the prize this time. I might do a similar shot when the chocolate head comes back!
What do you think? Was that your favourite?

The name of the gull is rather confusing, but yet they do changed the colour of the head and it is interesting to see the transition.

Very good choice for an entry!
The transition is great to see Neli, I love when nature does things like this!
They look so friendly, have they seen you before, how did you get their attention they dey allowed you get a good picture of them?
Well they are nosey and if they think there is food then they come close!

What is she handing the soldier in the statue? Is that a poppy? I took some bird photos myself the other day!
She is giving him one of her roses... Bird pics nice, you know what type?
Ah, okay. I think it was seagulls.

Great shots of the gull! They are so much fun to watch!
That memorial to World War II, how ironic... Today I shared a coin from World War II! Talk about luck!

Ah yes the Philippines coin. The gulls are fun, the bigger ones are a danger, these smaller ones are safer although still a fluffing menace.

A significant monument and a beautiful sculpture. And the photograph was perfect, although I really liked the one where he looked like he was marching as if he were a soldier. I hope you gave him some food. Hugs, Ed
hehe I liked the marching pictures. I have a video but could not get anything to upload here. I guess it would work if was youtube. Oh yes food I did because he seemed to limp. Normally I don't as gulls are a menace. A big marching hug Nancy
