wee Ger's scarf and the SKOL cup

Hello Hello to all Hivians, Silver Bloggers and anyone else reading this.

This week's The Silverbloggers Chronicles - Prompt 10 is ....

The Secret Life of an Object. Choose an object from your past—a favourite toy, an old piece of furniture, a cherished photo album or anything else and tell its story from its perspective.

wee Ger's scarf

Times change and with it some things will be lost forever.

If you know me, then you know I love my Rangers football club. But let's be honest our glory days are over, television has seen to that.

Now football is not a sport, it is a business. It does not belong to the fans, and that is so fluffing sad.

image.png

Hello Hello people I am wee Ger's scarf!

image.png

No No not the fluffing bear, he is wee Ger. I am his scarf and my name is wee Ger's scarf.

You can probably guess my age by the badge I proudly wear!

Well I am almost 40!
Fluff me time flies.

The SKOL Cup

More of that later...

image.png

That's me wrapped around wee Ger's neck. You know he is not that old compared to me.

image.png

Sometimes I sit with Dad and watch the football, sometimes he is off dancing round the room when the Gers score a goal! I mean really the old fluffer has to remember he is not in his prime like when he used to the follow Rangers home and away. Ah what a magical times period that was.

He used to have me tied around his wrist and I would be punched high into the sky.

The first time it happened, I must confess it scared the fluffing bejesus right out of me!

I nearly unravelled myself I was that scared!!!

image.png

wee Ger does like to copy Dad and shake me around too he even does the fluffing bit when they use me to cover their eyes in case it all goes wrong!

image.png

Humans and Bears what are they like!

They're all fluffing nutters I tell you!

So anyway their football club is Rangers from Scotland, they are also known as the Gers the Teddy Bears and the light blues. You don't need a fluffing degree in rocket science to work out why!

image.png

Me choreographing wee Ger to do the scoring dance!

image.png

And guess what ....

It fluffing worked out.

Only a scarf has that power!

image.png

Oh yeah I forget to tell you about the Skol Cup

So in Scotland there is a cup competition that is only open to the football clubs that are in the main scottish leagues. It is called the League Cup and between 1984 and 1991 it was sponsored by SKOL. SKOL was a pale lager that was in its heyday then.

Of the 7 finals, Rangers got to 6 of them, and I went with Dad to all of them.

Oh we had so much fun, we did lost one of them though and that made me sad.

image.png

My claim to fame was when we were in a bar in a hotel and met Gazza. It turned out to be his last game for Rangers, but he held me and said what a wee star I was!

I don't know who was more happy, me or Dad.

That was the time when we had England's captain and their goalkeeper and we were the best team in the whole of the UK.

Then all the television money came and they excluded Rangers and Celtic.

It's funny as if they had included us, we would have been right up there with the world's best!

Ah well, times change, but you never stop supporting your dream!

I am tired, I need to fold myself up and have a nap! See you later!

image.png

What about you? What advice would you give yourself if you could travel back to your childhood self?

Let me know in the comments! And why not join in with the fun and start your Chronicle!?

Hehehe. It's a scarf? Looks like a knitted hat to me😁😆. It still looks new. You fold and keep it?

It has been washed a few times hehe

You made me laugh with that conversation about your scarf. The different bear poses were a great idea. I was cheering, hehe. Great post, and even though I don't like football, I really enjoyed it.

Thank goodness that in reality, objects don't talk. I think they would make me feel very embarrassed! Hahaha. I loved hearing from you through that blue scarf. My dad had a baseball cap that was his lucky cap: when the glorious Caracas Lions had an important game, Dad would wear it. A blue hug for you, Ed.

This was so funny😂😂

Why is the scarf named wee Ger's scarf?

Why not give it a new name like .... oldie bluey😁
