The perfect calm after the storm
Hello Hello Hivians and Hivers
The first Sunday in October and we are in the last quarter of 2025!
Where the fluff has this year gone?
We had storm Amy over the weekend and it was windy.
This morning I had to pop down to the grocery shop to get some bananas to make green smoothies for the first half of the week.
Wheelie Bins are great but fluff me when they are empty they get blown around like wee matchboxes when the winds are a howling like they were on Saturday!
I kept going down the hill and crossed the wee burn.
You can see that rains and winds had gone and it was a cracker of a day.
I thought there might have been a bigger flow of water from upstream but it was not to be. We still have had a very dry year, certainly up here anyway.
It really had turned into a nice October's day. I always associate October with apples, probably because as a kid for Halloween we used to go dooking for apples!
Was that a thing you did?
Well this was the wrong kind of fruit that I was wanting. So onwards to the supermarket.
Just look at the sky, I do love my blue!
But wait, those bananas were a bit too unripe for me. I like them when they aren't so green to put into the smoothies. If they were for later in the week then that would be fine...
... but I did manage to find six that were just perfect!
Job done!
Three days in the fridge and the leftovers now!

Green bananas are a sight for sore eyes when you need them right away!

Ah green bananas, I am a fussy so and so and when I eat my bananas they have to be just right when it comes to ripeness, although in a smoothie they get more latitude with respect to their ripeness lol. But those green smoothies work wonders 😎

Little late in the year for green beer isn't it?
lol you know I have never had green beer in my life.
I figured it was mostly just a US thing. It's usually the cheapest beer they can find. I think I've only had it maybe once or twice. I'd rather drink a Guiness.
That was one doozy of a storm you had there, I can see why you were cursing my mentions of the California sun! I'm glad to see the blue sky has returned and things look a lot more cheery. Nice job on the smoothie!

Apples on the floor? During mango season, the same thing happens here: there are mangoes scattered everywhere. It hasn't rained here either, and the heat continues, although I know that other parts of the country have had heavy storms. Wrapping the fruit in newspaper is a good way to ripen them quickly! A green smoothie hug. Oh, I just found out that the Rangers played and tied 1-1.
I remember last year the apples were picked up but some people. Weather is weather, we generally want what others have jaja!
Well the only good news is that they finally saw sense and sacked the pathetic manger of Rangers, who should never have been hired. Now they need to sack the Chairman and all the other idiots involved. A things will improve hug Nancy 💙

Thanks Joe, yeah the first of the season always seems to catch you off guard. Smoothies are great and I don't feel right if I haven't had my daily green smoothie. It's a great source of iron and vitamins.
I probably need to start replacing my morning coffee with a smoothie.

Well there was a lot more than bins got blown away in other areas, trees cars buildings etc, nature will be nature. Hehe yes the smoothie is always good!

If I hadn't got those ripe bananas it would have meant finding another shop lol and as I was walking that might have been a pain in the arse! The sky made up for it all thank you!
