The Problem

The reputation level of The PEPT Game problem solving account has gone negative.

The Analysis

This is not a complicated and huge problem so there are not many elements to address in each category. The categories selected could have been different. I chose the 6M method from a template on Canva.

People - I have spent much time communicating here on Hive as well as on a few discord servers. A lot of back and forth discussions, enough to get a good understand of the human concern behind a click event. Clicks have consequences. You can downvote for no reason as you can upvote for no reason. You hope that the upvote power is higher than the total downvote power. This power is not to be confused with Hive Power.

Process - There are several blogs you can find that explains the voting process behind the voting click event. I have not been able to find any quality control checks that could limit the power behind the vote. I can see that it would be exciting for a newbie account to receive a huge upvote. However, a huge downvote on a small account can be extremely disappointing to the account owner.

Tools - Here I refer to the code that defines the voting functionality. It is my understanding that the recent Hive fork addressed some voting concerns but I am not sure and I have not been able to find a blog that explains the changes made. I did find a blog that is proposing a new system that could operate independently of the current functionality.

Materials - Here I include Hive blogging activity and perceived quality content of the blog. Not all accounts are used to publish high quality content. The PEPT Game project has many accounts and they all serve a specific purpose within the project ecosystem.

Environment - The Hive environment can be heavily impacted by actions from accounts that have a lot of voting power. It takes a lot of small accounts to offset a fraction of some of these large downvotes.

Management - Hive is not a corporation or structured organization with well defined purpose, goals and objectives. There appears to be collections of accounts link to people that work together and may be called the Hive team. There doesn't appear to be any document like SOPs, Standard Operating Procedures, Best Practices, code of Conduct, etc.

Conclusion

I am not the only Hiver that is unhappy with Hive Reputation System. There are Hivers proposing positive changes but making process improvements is not easy.

This blog is to demonstrate the use case and deliverable from The PEPT Game problem solving token. The earnings from this blogging activity helps to grow a TooFuneh Reward Pool that is used to distribute rewards to game piece holders.

The reason behind this account being downvoted appears to be an emotionally triggered event.

I am not a scammer. If I am, where is the proof? All that has been presented so far appears to be a personal attack. I don't like what your doing so that is good enough reason for me to make your life more challenging.

The why behind the downvote click event is no longer a concern to me. I accept that the system has little to no protection against abusers of the system.

I was told by a downvoter that I could just go find a whales to offset his attack. I was told that downvoting is not a form of attack. Well, we choose to believe what we want. As a victim of downvoting, it is clearly a form of attack on my creativity.

The reality is that when individuals accumulates lots of voting power they can blowup a Hivers boat for any reason. This leads to low trust in Hive.
