25 Years ago today was a life changing moment for FJ

Yes, I was there.

And I got my first and only leather jacket.

In year 2000, I got hooked on NASCAR3, an online racing simulator game. At work, I had been transferred from the Plant Operations division to the IT division of NB Power Corp. Scott, my new friend was a major fan of NASCAR and created an online racing league. Which I became a big fan and supporter.

As I got hooked on NASCAR it was a matter of time for me to go see a live NASCAR race. So Scott, I, and a couple other online racing buddies made the trip to Daytona.

It was unbelievable fun and I bought the jacket as a souvenir. The morning of the big race.

I got the nickname FJ from a couple online racing buddies. And, my car number was #3 so sometimes I got a little aggressive on the track as Dale would do from time to time. Interestingly, the #7 also became a favorite number for me.

We sat in turn #2 to watch the race and I got a good show of what was unfolding going into turn #3. It was a one of a kind feeling that I experienced and it changed my perspective on life forever.

I eventually lost interest in NASCAR. I did go see a couple more live races but I could never get interested enough to justify the expense. I became more pragmatic.

About the jacket, I paid $999 US$ plus some duty when I entered Canada. I am not sure of its value in todays dollars and it doesn't matter.

Maybe I can sell it and buy some TooFuckeh problem solving tokens.
