You Will Be Fine.

I said I was going to leave all the mushy stuff to the real end of the year, but this is the last month of the year – that went by the speed of light, might I add – so, I might as well just write on this and get it out of the way.

When it comes to lessons, I like to believe that every day has a lesson to teacher, whether profound or not. It could range from something life changing to something as little the things that could run through your mind when you’re by yourself. I massively approve of taking each day as one with something to offer.

It makes you more intentional about your day, no matter what you’re doing. So that even if you spend the whole day sleeping, there’s an intentionality attached to it. Something you’re going to conclude on when the day comes to an end.

As far as 2024 is concerned, lessons were learnt. Every step of the way. I saw a video the other day when a guy said that 2024 was mainly for the plot and this is because, the degree of things that happened and events that occurred at different points could be taken out of pages of a rashly-written novel.

And I agree, because hard lessons were learnt and things I didn’t imagine doing in situations I didn’t ever imagine being in happened and through it all, I was like, “What a year this has been!” Loved it. Hated it. But, it was memorable all the same.

Now, as we’re just a few weeks from completing this rather dramatic year, I can only say that the lessons I learnt are just as dramatic. But, I’ll pick just a few that had the most impact on me. Or maybe was little but still affected me in a great way.

Get You The Best Community.

I don’t know how to say this, but don’t joke with your people. I can’t begin to emphasize the necessity of having your community. A community comprising of your people. Maybe as many as ten or little as one or two persons, who may or may not know one other, but they’ve become your people. People you can go to when the chips are down.

People who you can share your happy moments with. Who you can express the joys of giving and laughter. Who are not afraid to dish out hard truths to you, but don’t condemn you or bring you down while at it. Those who know when to shut up with advice sometimes and support you with words of love and encouragement, or plain just listen to episodes of you talking it out.

I have the best community possible. Community doesn’t mean you have to have long conversations every day. It means you have people that show up and show out when you need them and you can do same for. No questions asked. 2024 made me realize what blessing it is having my community and I will always be grateful for how they came through for me in one way or the other this year. Have your people, guys. Cherish your community. Their impact is immeasurable.

You Don’t Need To Think Twice. Once Is Enough!

I learnt about this thing called doing or saying things impulsively. Several times this year, I learnt the need that you just need to think once before uttering things or doing them. Not even thinking and thinking again. Weighing the potential damage or consequences of everything I say or do. I learnt in soft and hard ways why I need to think things through. Cause there’s a lot of emphasis placed on thinking things again and again before saying or doing.

But I’ve come to the understanding that most of the time we don’t think at all. Just say or do things guided by our emotions, or whatever impulsions we feel at that moment. Then, we live with the consequences of our actions that have deeper reach than the three seconds or less we used to say or do whatever it was.

So, I learnt that no matter how hard or in the moment I feel. No matter the urge to say or do that thing now, if I can pause and take a deep breath for as little as five seconds, clarity comes and that biting urge to react now! dissipates. 2025, I believe, will be better because I know better. Not going to lie, something like this would definitely be a struggle because you have people and issues to test you at every step of the way. But if you’re intentional about it, it would soon become a trait that comes naturally.

You Will Be Fine.

This one is as literal as you see it. No matter how bad it gets. No matter how impossibly it all feels in that moment or in that phase, you will be fine at the end of the day. I say it to myself every day when I’m faced with anything that is even the slightest bit altered from what I want or expected. “You will be fine, Tessa.” Because I actually will be no matter what and no matter how long it takes. It will pass and I will be fine.

So yeah, my biggest lessons of 2024 were the value of my people, the need to breathe and receive clarity in five seconds, so I don’t act impulsively and that no matter what, I’ll be fine. And that’s on period. What has 2024 taught you? The #Decemberinleo Prompts wants to know all about it.

All of a sudden the idea of "when a guy said that 2024 was mainly for the plot" is really making sense. All of the things that happened are like a series is trying to kill of the main characters because s/he got tired and/or having health issues.

About the community, sadly sometimes for some communities, they are not working, I've seen it. I know people putting so much effort when they have a lot of things on their plate but still they didn't get any responses or even "thank you"'s. It is really sad to see. At the same time I am really happy for you Jhymi. I am happy about you got to see and feel this.

For the last, because I don't want to make another post under yours, you will be fine 🖤

Oh my, do you get? It felt like this year was genuinely after my life. And I wondered why. Too many things kept happening all at once.

And about community, I can relate all too well. And I forget sometimes that I need to give too, as much as I'm getting. But I'm getting better every day, you know?

Like you said, there are so many things to say yet can't be said, but I will be fine, friend. And I hope you are alright as well. You don't know how happy your heartwarming comment made me. Be well, dearest.🫶🏾💜
