World Cup 2026 Ramblings - Will Argentina Continue To Advance?
The final 4 teams are freshly out today! Interestingly, they are also the top 4 ranked in the FIFA World Rankings! I guess this means there is some credibility to the formula behind this system.
Previously I got 16 out of 24 winners correct in the Round of 32 and Round of 16 predictions. So let's review my quarter finals predictions to see how many I got right.
- France vs Morocco: Morocco to win - WRONG
- Spain vs Belgium: Spain to win - CORRECT
- Norway vs England: England to win - CORRECT
- Argentina vs Switzerland: Argentina to win - CORRECT
Total: 3 out of 4 correct
Not too bad, almost a perfect one but somehow the conspiracy theories did not materialise.
Once again, just purely for entertainment, let's try to predict the outcome of the semi final matches! For easy evaluation, I will just pick the winning team regardless at full time or extra time or penalties.
France vs Spain
Both semi final matches are so hard to predict because these are the Top 4 teams in the world. France is the better team here but Spain's defensive record is pretty impressive. Hmm, I will still go with the favourites here even though it's really a coin toss. France to win.
England vs Argentina
England is the better team here for me. They overcome a tough Mexico and Norway and emerged victorious. The same can't really said for Argentina, who struggled through lower ranked team, and conceded so many goals along the way. But then, as with the rumours and controversies go.. Somehow, by luck or whatever.. Argentina to win.
