After a bunch of very interesting Champions League fixtures which were played in mid-week, we are back again this weekend for some English Premier League action.
This time around, Liverpool are up against Bournemouth who have been in very good form in recent months. Everyone was looking forward to how Liverpool will perform in this game. We anticipated a high scoring game since both Liverpool and Bournemouth are quite potent when it comes to scoring goals.
Well, let's see how it unfolds...
The first half of the game was an interesting one. Unlike some other teams that line up against Liverpool, Bournemouth didn't sit back to just defend. Nah! They were up for some attacking actions and they were ready to also defend their backline.
Bournemouth really did some good defensive work. They had it as a mission to stop Salah from having balls in that right side of the field and they were ready to achieve that even if it means coming up with foul tackles.
The referee on the other hand allowed a lot of tackles to fly without penalizing anyone. Bournemouth became more confident about getting away with silly tackles until they did one on Cody in their 18 yard box and got penalized with a penalty.
The penalty was given by the onfield referee. Salah stepped up and got a goal for Liverpool to put us ahead.
Bournemouth also got their goal minutes later. However, the goal was ruled out for offside after a VAR review. The rest of the first half ended with no other goal scored.
The second half started with lots of booking for both sides. The referee wasn't holding back at all. We played the entire first half without any booking. However, he gave 6 bookings away in the second half. Macca is one of the players who was very close to picking up a red card in the game.
Macca, Trent, and Cody were subbed out of the game. Jones, Bradley, and Nunez came on in place of those to serve as fresh legs and help Liverpool cement the goal they already scored.
At the 75th minute, Jones dropped an assist for Salah who scored his trademark goal to double the lead for Liverpool. That subsequently made it possible for Liverpool to sit back and try to make sure we won't put ourselves in difficult situations by conceding an unnecessary goal.
The game ended with two goals and clean sheet in favor of Liverpool. Now, let's look forward to the mid-week fixture.
