Y'all... Liverpool just made it to the 5th round of the Emirates FA Cup and we did it in style after defeating Norwich City in a whopping 5 - 2 cracker. What a game that was!
For the record, the game that was just played by Liverpool is the first game we played after that saddening mid-week announcement we got about Klopp's Departure. The trend in recent days has been all about his decision to leave the club at the end of the season and there is already a lot of concern about the sort of effect this would have on what's left of Liverpool's season.
I know that folks had their eyes on today's game and the media would have gone bonkers if Liverpool lost or underperformed in today's game. As you would also expect from the fans, today's YNWA anthem felt different. It almost felt like Liverpool was about to play a Champions League game.
And, the game was an interesting one...
Jones gave us the opening goal of the game, thanks to a fabulous assist from McConnell. The 19-year-old got off to a good start in his debut game for Liverpool and that early assist from him was a confidence boost. He didn't hide from the ball at any point. He also stepped up and made relevant tackles.
22 minutes into the game, Norwich City bounced back with an equalizer which came from their corner kick. I call that a perfect corner.
Darwin Nunez stepped up afterward to put Liverpool in front. The build-up to that goal came from a superb interception from Bradley. This young lad has been putting up an average of 8.5 rating performance since he got into Liverpool's team. I haven't checked to see who won today's MOTM (Man of The Match), but I won't be surprised if the award went to the lad.
Liverpool forced Norwich to chase the ball around for most of the first half of the game. That half ended with a 2 - 1 scoreline and the rest of the goals were scored in the second half of the game.
What I particularly love about the second half of the game is the reintroduction of Szobo, Robbo and Trent into Liverpool's game. It's been so long since we saw them play together due to an injury setback that started with Robbo back in 2023. Having all three of them back in our squad is a very big boost to the team. I hope they remain fit and sharp for what's left of this season.
For the record, the three goals that were scored by Liverpool in the second half of the game came from Diogo Jota, Virgil, and Gravenberch. Each of those was a fabulous finish and we could have easily scored 10 goals in this game. Liverpool sure created an awful lot of chances.
Should we talk about Alisson Becker? AB1 got smoked when Norwich scored their second goal in the 69th minute of the game. He should be doing better when a shot is getting curled from that distance. Well, we know his quality and he's been immense for us.
All eyes are now on our mid-week fixture against Chelsea.
Thanks For Not Missing Any Full-stop or Comma.
