It has already been 10 days since I last wrote a post here. But I'm back again with another football review. This time around, it's all about the round of 16 fixtures in the European Champions League.
As always, my focus is on Liverpool's game which is scheduled for tonight. However, I need to give a big shout-out to Arsenal for the brilliant result they got against PSV in their fixture which was played last night.
My, oh my!
Arsenal have been struggling this year and many people were doubtful of Arsenal's chances of qualifying ahead of PSV in this knockout stage. Since their first leg was an Away game, many people were of the suggestion that Arsenal would need to get a draw Away and hopefully win at home next week to go through.
Well, immediately the game kicked off, Arsenal made it quite clear that they are still a major team in Europe. They ended up smashing PSV 1 - 7 and many people were surprised by that. This means that Arsenal are already qualified for the next round because I don't see any chance of PSV getting a comeback on this one.
I'm obviously rooting for Liverpool on this one and I know its going to be a tough game because PSG are in very solid form this year. Plus, their whole team are performing really well and they have really good goalscoring threats in attack and even in midfield.
This may well be the toughest first half performance I've seen Liverpool go through this year. I just can't believe how they were getting smoked in the first half of this game. It was almost a PSG against Alisson game in that first half of the game.
For the entirety of the first half, Liverpool were completely lost in the game. We were getting so cooked by PSG's press. They were pressing from all angles and they continuously tried their luck. Alisson stayed tight in-between the sticks for Liverpool and even saved two 1v1 against PSG.
While Liverpool were having an off day in that game, our goalkeeper kept us in the game and we ended up wrapping the first half up as a goalless draw.
The second half started just like the first half. We gave exactly the same performance. We struggled to transition our attacking plays. We also had issues completing passes. Our defense were under a lot of pressure, but Allison stepped up at all time to keep us in the game.
When it became obvious that we were not getting anything out of the game, Slot decided to start doing his substitutions. He took off all the forwards and replaced them at several points in the game. Endo also came on and delivered masterfully.
Just when the game was already coming to an end, Slot made a brave move and took off Salah. He replaced him with Elliot and his first touch a minute later turned into a goal for Liverpool.
Yeah! That's exactly where the game was won by Liverpool. We maintained the lead for what's left of the game and will now look forward to the next leg of the game which will be played in Anfield, Liverpool's home.
Thanks For Not Missing Any Full-stop or Comma.

Alisson deserves a statue, Darwin the accolades and Harvey the glory for getting the goal✨
Bro... This is Liverpool. They will keep you tensed until the final whistle of the game 😂.
Big shout-out to all the folks you mentioned. It almost seems like all our bench players combined to save us in this game.
Alisson is just unbeatable in they goal when he's at his best.
Endo is another player that gives me joy with this flying tackles he give 😂.
