Well That's A Bummer...
Secretly, I'm actually pretty happy about this, but it has been a rough week for the University of Michigan Wolverines. They are currently on a two game home losing streak and on Sunday they have to travel a couple hours up the road to East Lansing to take on a Michigan State Spartans team that seems to be getting hot at the right time.
Michigan took a tough but personally expected loss against Maryland last night in Ann Arbor. That loss actually moves Maryland past them into second place in the Big 10 standings. With just one more game against Northwestern, it is highly unlikely Maryland is going to slip down from that spot. In fact, if Michigan State loses their next two games, Maryland could earn a share of the Big Ten regular season title.
Hopefully that doesn't happen though. Ideally, the Spartans will win out. Iowa is 6-12 in the regular season. I know that teams often have flashes of greatness, but hopefully that doesn't happen tonight when MSU comes to town.
Personally, I'd love for the game on Sunday versus U of M and MSU to be nothing but a pride game. I want MSU to win tonight so they can relax and just have fun playing on Sunday. Either way, it doesn't much matter. MSU, Maryland, and U of M are all going to find themselves in the NCAA tournament later this month. That's pretty much set in stone.
Meanwhile. The Big Ten tournament for women's basketball has already started and the men's is taking place next week before the run up to selection Sunday on the 16th.
On the softball side of things, Tiffin dropped another two games on their Florida Spring Break road trip the other day. They lost 2 - 0 against Saginaw Valley State University, and 6 to 2 a against Barry University. They have two more games today and two games on Saturday before they head back to Ohio to get into their regular season play next weekend.
I hope they can turn thing around over the next couple of days. They had a really great start to the season with that seven game winning streak.
This weekend, I am going to be heading back down to the Flint, MI area with @mrsbozz to watch your youngest niece and middle nephew play some basketball. Then our sights will be set on baseball, softball, and soccer season.
