Then There Were Four...

As predicted, the Michigan State Spartans got knocked out of the NCAA tournament in the Elite Eight dashing any hopes they had of making it to the Final Four or of winning the national championship. Things were looking pretty good on Friday after Michigan State had managed to handle Ole Miss and Auburn had laid waste to U of M. At that point, I didn't really care what happened. The two scenarios that I was least looking forward to were not going to happen.

A Michigan/Michigan State rematch would have been something that no one outside of Michigan fans wanted to see. U of M had some momentum behind them and given the fact that MSU won the two regular season match ups, the odds were not in our favor. Thankfully, that didn't happen.

Likewise, I really didn't want to see Michigan State lose and Michigan go on to play Ole Miss in the Elite Eight. I think that would have pretty much been a free pass for them to make it to the Final Four.

Meanwhile, Alabama handled BYU a lot more easily than I had expected. Then after that, Duke gave Alabama a beat down that I think surprised a lot of people. If you look at the statistics, it was clearly an off night for Alabama, but that seems to be par for the course lately for the Crimson Tide.

Then we have Florida who honestly seem to have struggled a bit against Texas Tech. I'm happy they made it to the Final Four, but I am a bit worried about where they go from here. Tennessee had a huge win over Kentucky, but then was stunned by Houston who barely beat Purdue in the round of 8.

@mrsbozz and I were sitting on the couch watching the Michigan State game last night when suddenly the local weather people cut in to let us know there were a few tornado warnings in our area. Thankfully, they kept the game playing in a split screen style, but they cut it off so much that you couldn't see the score. Talk about stupid. They kept apologizing that they were cutting into the game, but honestly, I don't think anyone would have cared so much if they had at least shown the score.

In a funny turn of events, they did eventually put the score up on the screen on the left bottom in all that red. They must have gotten a fair number of complaints!

So now we have Houston, Duke, Florida, and Auburn in the Final Four. It doesn't change my bracket too much as long as Florida and Duke keep winning. The truth is though, I have been knocked out of the running for the top prize a long time ago I think. There is very little chance I have any hope of winning some money this year.

Maybe next year...
