Let's Go Streaking!
You might remember before we got totally distracted by basket ball that there was some softball happening as well. Although my oldest niece is taking a year off from playing with the Tiffin Dragons, I still like to keep track of the team and see how they are doing. I was a bit surprised to visit their site the other day and find that they are currently on a nine game winning streak. That is pretty impressive!
Actually, I have noticed that they are winning, I get updates via social media on how the team is doing, but it doesn't really hit quite as hard until you look at their full schedule and you see just how many green lines they have versus red lines. It also gives you a better overview of what their numbers look like and quite honestly, that is where they have really been shining this year.
Last time we talked, they were heading into a double header with University of Findlay which sits just 25 miles down highway 224 from Tiffin.
I kind of gave it away, but the double header was a sweep of the Oilers beating them 2 to 0 and 4 to 1. Then, the next day they had a home double header against Thomas More University and they swept that series 9 to 1 in five innings and 8 to 0 in six innings.
That is a good sign because tomorrow they are heading up to my hometown to face the Northwood Timberwolves. Northwood was the reigning conference champion last year I think, so they probably have a pretty good team. It's going to be a tough run for them.
As I said though, what has been really impressive is the stats that the Tiffin Dragons are putting up. In their past nine games, they have given up a total of 3 runs. You read that right, that's 3 runs in nine games. That's pretty freaking nuts!
I was really hoping to make it to the games at Northwood University tomorrow, but it looks like they will be in the middle of the day and I won't be able to get away from work.
Meanwhile the Radford Highlanders that my other niece will be playing for next year had their four game winning streak ended last Wednesday with a 2 to 1 loss against UNC Greensboro. Before that they had a nice 6 to 1 victory over Charlotte.
Right now, that same niece is in Tennessee playing with her High School team in four games over the past four days. They have their last game of Spring Break today. They have faced some tough competition with a current record of 1 win and 2 losses. Hopefully they can get a win today to at least break even for the trip.
