I don't know about you, but I really feel like it has been ages since the NCAA Elite Eight games were played. When March Madness comes around, you kind of get used to basketball games being on pretty much 24/7 for a week or so. Then you hit this lull like we are in now while you wait around for the Final Four games to be played.
Since it's only Thursday right now, that means we still have two more days to wait until the games tip off at 6:09 on Saturday. That will be Auburn versus Florida and given the way they played against Michigan State the other night, I am starting to feel a bit worried about my pick for Florida to win the national title. Auburn was looking really good and I have a feeling this could be a really close game.
Meanwhile at 8:49 the game between Duke and Houston tips off. It's actually kind of impressive that the two teams I picked at the beginning of the season to make it to the championship game are still in it. I have a feeling Duke will handle Houston pretty easily. Yes, Houston had a really good game against Tennessee, but I think that was more of a fluke. That isn't to say Houston isn't a good team, but Duke is really good.
The twenty point win over Alabama is proof of that. Yes, Alabama had a pretty off night in that game, but you still need to give a lot of credit to Duke.
Once basketball is over, my thoughts are going to turn fully to softball and baseball. I feel like I should try to keep a better eye on the Tigers this year. I know I say that every year, but I really mean it this year. Part of me still wishes I was in a baseball fantasy league. It was a lot of work, but it was also a lot of fun. I also didn't totally suck at it like I clearly do football!
My niece had a home softball game last night with her high school varsity team. They won something like 7 to 1 and she went 3 for 4 which is pretty typical for her. Actually, she tends to get walked a lot because other teams know she is a good hitter and fast around the bases. She can turn a single into a triple in the blink of an eye.
She's also been know to score from first base a time or two...
For now though, I will just sit around and wait. We have some big games coming up and you better be ready for them!

Despite the fact that I too believe that Duke is going to cruise to yet another national title, I think the Houston / Duke came is going to be the best one left. We have the best offense vs the best defense and that is going to be very interesting to see if either team can find a weakness and exploit it.
You hit the nail on the head with that one! What a game! I had to go back and watch the end the next morning because it didn't turn out at all like I thought it would!
same here. It was great to see Duke choke in what is probably the first time they have done so in the entire season. Those boys will be reliving the last quarter of that game for the rest of their lives... from both teams. Duke squandered a double digit lead and badly missed a clutch shot in the final moments.
Oh well, I didn't really have a horse in this race so I suppose I am kind of glad that Duke lost just to mix things up a bit. Well done Florida on the overall win.
