Dragons Invade Florida
As I mentioned last week, the Tiffin Dragons women's softball team took their Spring Break trip down to Florida at the end of last week. For the next week or so they are going to be playing games pretty much every day. The photo above is actually my other niece playing on her travel team, but I feel like I have been sharing the same Tiffin photos with you a lot lately, so I wanted to give you a break.
Tiffin kicked things off on Saturday with a morning game against California University of Pennsylvania. You might remember I was ruminating on whether or not the university was actually located in Cali or Penn last week. Either way, the Dragons came away with a 2 to 0 victory over the them.
They then had a game later in the day against University of Sioux Falls South Dakota. Now that's a hike! They also beat them 6 to 4. It was a great day for the Dragons an as always a sweep on the day earned the ladies ice cream that evening.
On Sunday they had an early game against West Virginia Wesleyan college that saw them invoking the mercy rule and run ruling the other team 8 to 0 in six innings. Their had a repeat of that stellar performance in the next game where they did the same thing with the same score to University of Pittsburgh Johnstown.
That put the Ladies on a seven game winning streak going into their Monday games against Saint Leo University. Unfortunately, they lost 5 to 0 in the first game and then in the second game of the double header they lost 10 to 0. Maybe it was all the ice cream they had across the previous two days.
They get a day off today an then tomorrow they are back in action with a game in Melbourne, FL against my alma mater Saginaw Valley State University. I've gotta be honest, despite the fact that I got my bachelors degree from there, I am cheering for Tiffin to win that one.
They then have two games on March 6th and two more on March 8th before they finally head back to Ohio.
I look forward to seeing how they finish this Spring Break road trip!
