Another Sweep!
Don't quote me on this, but this has truly been a historic season for the Tiffin Dragons Softball team. It's almost starting to feel like the same old story, another double header, another sweep. The Dragons went head to head with Walsh University yesterday in North Canton Ohio and came away with a pair of very respectable wins.
Like I said, the bats have been hammering the ball all over the field pretty much all season. In the two and a half years I have been watching Tiffin Softball, I don't think I have ever seen them hitting like this. It's pretty amazing. Likewise, the pitching has been off the chart. With the graduation of their ace pitcher Feldkamp and the loss of another one to the transfer portal, the remaining pitchers have really needed to step up and they really have in a big way.
The games yesterday were a 12 to 3 victory in the first game and a 7 to 1 victory in the second game. Barring the one blow out loss they had against Ohio Dominican on Sunday, the Dragons are outscoring other teams 173 to 32. That's pretty crazy if you ask me. Like I said the other day, I look forward to seeing what they can accomplish in the remainder of the season and how far they can go into the post season.
Today I get to drive down to Ohio to watch my niece play with her high school team. They had a game last night that was a really back and forth affair. The other team quickly went up 2 to 0, but my nieces team were able to claw back and take a 4 to 2 lead. Then the other team scored two more runs to make it 4 to 4.
My niece ended up going 3 for 4 and later in the game they soon found themselves up 12 to 4 thanks in large part to the two home runs hit by one of my nieces teammates. The other team got one more run, but they lost the game something like 14 to 5 with the last two outs being handled by none other than my niece.
I'm really looking forward to seeing her in action tonight. It's always a joy to watch any of my nieces or nephews play sports!
