RE: Happy new month and a happy independence to Nigeria

It's a long time to carry that burden, 66 years. You are right, independence on paper means nothing when the economy and politics are still tied up in foreign influence. In terms of infrastructure, governance and economic self-sufficiency, the 'Giant of Africa' sounds more like a reminder of what could be rather than what is.

True sovereignty is not about sitting at the UN, it is about not needing anyone else's permission to make decisions that affect your people. The most obvious evidence that political independence has not resulted in real autonomy is the stark contrast between Nigeria’s abundant resources and its present predicament.

That’s a heavy reality to face on an Independence Day, but calling it out is the first step to demanding better than just “anchor with a yoke.”

rightly said but, talk is cheap the corruption runs deep , deeper than the mere eyes could see , if African and Nigeria at large are to work up to 50% of how must developed nation works you will see a very sharp decline with immigration, and pressuring other countries of their resources. we were the clear illustration of the parable of being in a clear river bank with soap in our eyes... looking for who too help us.

The analogy of the “clear river with soap in our eyes” hits hard. It is one thing to be dependent, but it is another to ignore the resources that are right in front of you and beg for help from nations that only come when it is convenient for them. The fading interest of developed countries in African resources is not just economic, it’s a wake-up call that self-sufficiency can’t wait for permission anymore.
