For metal detecting enthusiasts, models are available for around $200 to $300 and allow for practice and satisfactory performance on any type of terrain. In Belgium, there's also the regulatory aspect that comes into play, since the regulatory framework is very specific (see example from France here: Carte réglementation détection en France ). I spend time with a lot of Detectorists (their code name), and the main motivation isn't to make the device profitable but to get some fresh air and understand their environment.
