I love that towns like this still exist. The larger cities are losing the little Mom & Pop shops and restaurants but hopefully these smaller towns can hold onto this piece of Americana. It's crazy how much still reminds us of Amstel. We haven't done a proper road trip since he passed in January of 2023 but I imagine the memories would make it bittersweet. Are you considering getting another one? I think after we wrap up our renovations we're going to get another beagle. I really want to work at this one used to a variety of experiences, not that Amstel wasn't socialized, but I want to get the new one more used to things like road trips and such when they're young so it isn't so taxing.
We have a lot of little towns like this in Michigan. I am sure Minnesota does too, you just need to look for them. I don't think we are getting another dog anytime soon. My wife says a hard nope, I think we just want to enjoy some freedom and let our hearts continue to heal.
Yes, we have towns like this scattered outside of the Twin Cities metro area. St. Paul used to have this small town feel too but it doesn't any longer. That's understandable. You both will know when it's time.
