The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has extended the break in the ongoing collation of results from 4 pm to 7 pm.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner in charge of Kogi State, Gabriel Longpet, said the extension was because the results of the remaining three Local Government Areas were not yet on the ground.

Out of the three, only Igalamela–Odolu was available as the results for Lokoja local government and that of Ibaji were still being awaited.

The Social Democratic Party and Peoples Democratic Party have called for the cancellation of results, alleging irregularities.

In a significant electoral outcome, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Usman Ododo, clinched victory in the governorship race in Kogi State on November 11. The declaration of Ododo's win came from the State Returning Officer, Prof Johnson Urama, at 10:23 pm on Sunday.

"Ahmed Usman Ododo of the APC, having met all legal requirements, is hereby declared the winner and elected," announced Urama.

Ododo secured a notable triumph with 446,237 votes, surpassing his closest contender, Murtala Ajaka of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), who garnered 259,052 votes. Dino Melaye of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) trailed with 46,362 votes.

This victory solidifies Ododo's position as the elected governor, reflecting the electorate's choice in the state's political landscape.
