Yeah, I get that a lot. I think there's an explanation to it but I'm yet to know it for sure.
I think your family is part of the Igbos that exceeded to Dalta state and naturalized there like the Ikweres in River state that exceeded and became Rivers State, but they speak Igbo completely.
This is the story I heard that happened after the Biafran war, someone told this story to me long time ago.
