Around this time last year Ron Throop @ronthroop was at my house in London making collaboration Jonron paintings with me. He flew over from Oswego, New York and spent ten days making all sorts of art and music in the Black Ivory studio, located in the side flat of my house in Muswell Hill, North London. After the Jonron paintings were done, Charles Thomson joined us to make some Jonronthom paintings. Charles asked me for photos of the Jonronthom paintings recently as I think he's putting them into a book. Not a book specifically about Jonronthom but probably something to do with Stuckism. Ron and I also made some jazz improv albums together under the name Farangers. We also shot some video footage dressed in masks. Cardbaord face masks I made years ago and used for a film called Untitled:
It's from this film that I suspect Delaine Le Bas plagiarised my work for her entry in to the 2024 Turner Prize, but that's another story. I still haven't edited the footage Ron and I shot for the masks film but in the meantime they make for some pretty good stills. Here's a few from the vertical camera:
The guitar is from some videos Emma Pugmire and I made for Edgeworth Band. I found it fly tipped on my street. It had no strings so I painted it white and red to go with the red dot themed decor Black Ivory studio has sometimes. Emma occasionally joins me for The Camden Market Free Art Man handing out linocut prints she's made of fairies. She puts them into envelopes so the passer by who takes one only finds out what it is afterwards.
The "Demand Your Free Art From the Pig" sign is from when I used to hand my artwork out for free outside Tate Modern dressed as a pig. I did a similar demo outside Tate Britain once and one of the gallery staff came out to suggest I take the pig mask off as an Israel / Palestine demo was due to take place there in a few hours and the mask could be misinterpreted as an offensive costume. I'm so grateful to her for this, especially as the demo I was staging was about the Turner Prize plagiarism suspicion I had, so was quite hostile to the Tate Britain gallery who were hosting that years Turner Prize.
The violin has only been used on one Edgeworth Band song so far called Waded There Down but has been used extensively in Strawberry Cake recordings where Mooney Ra Ra also wears an identical pig mask. It's just occured to me to do a Strawberry Cake Blond Card of Mooney in her pig mask. I registered the dot com for Blond Cards yesterday. Their recent sales at Maddarings in Camden Market has pushed them up the priority list.
