In my journeys, I get to visit many businesses. I had the opportunity to visit the one lone business still operating at an indoor mall. JC Penny is still open and conducting business, even though all other businesses in the mall are closed.
The gate connecting the JC Penny and the rest of the mall had clear windows so I was able to see the mall. It was very sad seeing it empty, lights off. Still looks like new, just unused, collecting dust.
June of 2024 was the last time the mall was open. Our family made a trip to the mall for one last visit before it closed forever. Most of the stores were already closed, but many people came to say "goodbye". It's been closed for a year now.
This photo shows people wandering around, enjoying the space for one last time.
The site is expected to be demolished eventually, but in reality it will sit unused and deteriorate, like so many other "abandoned" malls around the country.
With the rise of online commerce and subscription based services, the indoor shopping malls have fallen out of favor. I hope the building can be used for another purpose, office space or something of that sort, but alas, there are no plans for that.
Bless the Most High!
We encourage parents to teach their children principles of Godliness, beginning with the Word and an understanding who God is and what His Son has done to form a relationship with us.
No one can lay a foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, or straw, his workmanship will be evident, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will prove the quality of each man’s work. 1 Corinthians 3:11-13
Second to this is the principle of self-determination and freedom, lest we loose the ability to teach our children the first principle in future generations.
Our children read the Tuttle Twin books, specifically to learn libertarian principles, which most people learn later in life. These books are useful for our family, and yours, to teach children concepts that seem complicated, but are made simple in these books.

Really sad about your indoor mall, ours is in about the same state. Maybe 50% of the stores are occupied, and I really wonder how they can afford the rent!
Amazon and e-commerce are where people shop nowadays…….
You know that song "video killed the radio star"... we could sing "Amazon killed the indoor shopping mall." !BBH
lol….. so very true my friend!😇
On a cold dark wet northwest winter day, it’s so much easier to shop for Christmas on Amazon then drive 30 miles to town and shop in the mall😇😊
Well, that looks depressing. There are still a couple of busy malls I know of in the Orlando, Florida area. The Florida Mall and Mall at Millennia both seem to still be doing really good business, not that I go all that often. My local mall is still open and still seems to do ok. However, the company that owns it (and a bunch of other malls) recently went bankrupt so its future is unclear.
There is a local mall (much smaller) that's doing surprisingly well. Don't know why this one failed. !BBH
They used to be the center of childhood. Now they are abandoned. Now phones are the center of childhood.
that's about right. !BBH
Sad to think it will sit unused, time to make another mall type zombie film 🤣

Have the best mid week

Zombie film... that would be a creepy setting indeed. !BBH
sad to see those malls go , i still remember my first visit to the states back in 1989 coming from Euroipe i had never seen such big shopping places before, not like this at least. My first mall was the Aventura mall in Miami , i just had to look and i see that it's still active https://aventuramall.com/ , so they need to adjust to the market , I guess that didn't happen at your mall.
Michigan is a depressed state, so economic centers like these have been hit very hard. !BBH
Online businesses are really shutting down most physical ones. Imagine abandoning such a beautiful and huge investment. And no plans of converting it to some other profitable business.
so often that's the case. !BBH
Poor management...too bad.

There was a mall close to my work I would visit and it was in the process of closing down. The patrons would get less and less week after week because they knew it would not be long before it was closed. So this cycle helped close the mall.

Yeah, that's definitely a thing, physical brick-and-mortar businesses reorienting to online commerce. It is sad that it will sit unused, and even be demolished (even though it's perfectly functional and in good condition), rather than being repurposed. It's good that you guys got to experience it one last time, though. 😁🙏💚✨🤙
Oh no
They are going to demolish this beautiful mall.
It looks cool to me.
The mall has a beautiful space.
I hope they make use of it for a good thing instead of leaving it to deteriorate and waste.
