Charity is good. Charity that keeps on giving is better. Family is good and helping family is better. As someone who lives in a richer country I would mention one thing though....

I see so many people buying stuff for their children without teaching them the value of money. It doesn't end well. Kids who don't value money end up as adults who don't know how to use money and that inevitably makes them poor.

Of course, caring for aging parents is a totally different thing :)
