Österreich war immer schon ein Mobilfunk-Paradies mit im EU und vor allem USA-Vergleich extrem günstigen Angeboten und einer Vielzahl von Playern und virtuellen low-cost Anbietern.

Manche sagen, dass Österreich eine Art Testmarkt für Deutschland ist und wir haben sogar einen chinesischen Anbieter (3), der jetzt einen neuen esim/sim-only Kampftarif anbietet. Up3.

Zum Promotion-Preis von nur 4.90 im Monat bekommt man 1000 Freiminuten/SMS und 50 GB mit 50/100 mbps Up/Download (LTE) und der Tarif ist in der EU sogar roaming-fähig, aber mit reduziertem Downloadvolumen (11 GB). Um 1 Euro kann man sich für jeweils 1-2 Tage 5G dazukaufen.

Das Innovative an dem Tarif ist, dass das Management und Service komplett über eine App und einem KI-Chatbot automatisiert wurde.

Man braucht keine teuren Filialen oder Callcenter mehr und ähnlich wie bei Wertkarten-Tarifen ist es ein SIM-only (vorzugsweise esim) Tarif ohne subventionierte Smartphones. Wenn das Handy esim unterstützt, braucht man keine SIM-Karte mehr zuschicken lassen. Das ist wirklich praktisch und erspart noch mehr Arbeit.

Nachteil ist, man bekommt kein Filial-Service (aber braucht man eh nicht mehr wirklich) und im Falle einer Netzauslastung bekommt man mit dem günstigen Tarif keine Priorität im Netz. Und man muss auch eine closed-source App am Handy installieren, um den Tarif zu verwalten, was man auch als Nachteil sehen kann. Man muss der App vertrauen.

Insgesamt denke ich, dass es ein sehr gutes Angebot ist, vor allem mit dem Einführungspreis von 4.90, der ein "Abo-Leben lang" garantiert wird. Im Kleingedruckten: Grundentgelt indexiert, wird der Inflation angepasst.

You no longer need expensive retail shops or call centers and, similar to prepaid card plan, it is a SIM-only (preferably esim) plan without subsidized smartphones. If your cell phone supports esim, you no longer need to have a SIM card sent to you too. This is really practical and saves even more work.

The disadvantage is that you don't get retail shop service (but you don't really need the shops any more anyway) and in the event of network congestion, you don't get priority on the network with the cheap tariff. And you also have to install a closed-source app on your smartphone to manage the tariff, which can also be seen as a disadvantage. You have to trust the app.

Overall, I think it's a very good offer, especially with the introductory price of 4.90 which is guaranteed for a "subscription lifetime". In the small print: fee indexed, will be adjusted for inflation.
