WTF is VYB?

I got the assignment to write an article about VYB or verify your brain for the next issue of the @hiq.magazine. I am still one of the Top100 stakeholders in the VYB Community, but honestly I know very little about the project. I know a lot of people that are more active in VYB and that I thought about tagging. But since @trostparadox explicitly said that he would like to be tagged when people have questions about VYB I will only mention him, but of course everybody is welcome to share their knowledge/experience.

I would like to have all the infos, like Tokenomics, mission(s)/goal(s), benefits, problems, recent history, planned updates, etc. . Of course I am fine with just a link to a post. No need to make a reply that is longer than my original post, unless you want to :).

What I know

I have witnessed the birth of proofofbrain and was one of the earliest adopters of the tag. However, I never really dove deep into the community. But I saw one of my friends, @lucylin, really enjoying the new tag/community even going so far to suggest that it should be more separated from hive to avoid downvotes and such. I wonder how much of the drama around him in particular made it so you have the feature to deny hive votes but still get VYB rewards.

I came back to hive from a six month break when VYB was dropped. I lost a lot of money having my 1069 POB sit around and do nothing during my break so the VYB drop was a sweet surprise for me, but I don't know why VYB was born and what the purpose is.

@trostparadox already told me that it is best to use both tags but you can earn VYB rewards by only using POB tags.

On a side note I really do not like the name verify your brain. I liked POB because I think the name proof of brain is very catchy and worth gold from a marketing POV.

POB and VYB are still open to all kinds of content as far as I am aware.

Why so lazy?

I know, I know, I could just browse all the old and new VYB posts and piece together the puzzle myself, you know, like a real journalist. But we all know how unenjoyable browsing old content on hive is and I am the kind of person that learns best with a good teacher.

Please help me! It might be wise to make your own post if you have more to say so you do not waste hours on an undervalued comment. Just mention me so I can see it.
