Scottish Stag Do DDH Pale Ale

Hello Hivians and all you beer lovers.

Another Saturday and another beer. Although it is from the same brewery as last week.

Today we are having a local beer, yes one from Scotland ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ณ๓ ฃ๓ ด๓ ฟ

Do you know what a Stag Do is?

Answer ... see below ๐Ÿ‘‡

A Stag Do is a celebration held for a man who is about to get married, attended only by men.

Now I know in the States you say Bachelor Party, and maybe a buck's night in Australia and Canada?

But we are here to talk about Stag Do beer from Loch Lomond brewery.

image.png

You can read more about the brewery in my previous post about their Wild Drover Hazy IPA Highland Cows Wild Drovers and Hazy IPA Beers from Loch Lomond Brewery. For here we shall say it is a Scottish brewery on the west coast of Scotland.

Hello Stag Do DDH Pale

image.png

Who knows what DDH stands for?

I know our resident beerologist zekepickleman will know. For those that don't here is a wee snippet of gemini info..

Double Dry Hopped (DDH) simply means that the brewers have used a significantly larger amount of hops for dry hopping, or they have performed the dry hopping process twice (e.g., adding hops at two different stages during conditioning). The goal is to maximize the aromatic and flavorful impact of the hops.

image.png

Apparently DDH Pale Ales are known for being very aromatic and flavorful due to the heavy dry hopping, often showcasing juicy, fruity, and sometimes hazy characteristics.

A wee dod of haziness

So you can see that whilst it is quite golden it also has a wee dod of haziness to it!

image.png

Nice and creamy head and certainly a fruity drink and they are right it isn't bitter.

image.png

Just like the Wild Drover beer of last week it is very drinkable but it is just behind Wild Drover for me in the taste scale.

Drinking and cooking!

The first can got tanned whilst I was cooking dinner...

image.png

One down one to go!

A very pleasant drink, can you guess what dinner was?

image.png

Cheers ๐Ÿป๐ŸŒฎ

Spaghetti con carne!

A glass whilst Hiving

image.png

Dinnae Fash Yersel and Hae A Wee Swally...

Who knows what that means!

image.png

My Verdict

Very drinkable and I love the citrus flavours. It is not as bitter as some of the IPAs which is fine by me.

It is both sippable and quaffable! Sweet Juicy finish is an appropriate statement.

Another good brew from Loch Lomond Brewery.

What about you... do you drink DDH Pale Ales?

I really like the color on that beer, but I have a feeling it would be a bit too hoppy for me.

I think it might depend on how you like your citrus fruits.

I enjoy fruits, but I know a lot of times those fruity ones are heavy on the hops.

At home, I'm told that when I cook and drink a few beers, the food is delicious! So I think your food not only looks tasty, it tastes great too. A great Saturday, Ed and a beer hug.๐Ÿป๐Ÿซ‚

Nice pale ale! I like some of them, but not usually my first pick. That one sounds like a tasty one and pair that up with your spaghetti con carne. Never a bad time of day for a great beer! I'm glad you enjoyed!

It was pretty good and only because of Beer Saturday that I chose it lol.
I had never heard of DDH let alone know what it was! But I think that double dry hopping technique makes it more flavour for sure!
The spaghetti con carne was a great way to have some spicy ground beef!
Have a magical Sunday :)

aha thanks Mick!

Looks and sounds like a pretty good beer, I like double dry hopping. Also can confirm in Australia it would be called either a Bucks Party or maybe a Stag Do (perhaps by the older attendees)

I will be honest this is the first beer that I have drunk knowing about double dry hopping and it was pretty decent!
Aha it is a Bucks Party, thanks for the confirmation!

Checked last weekend, ny last local Lidl didn't have it.

Ah I was thinking about you when I drank it whether you would have it not. Now I am curious how the Lidl's across the country stock their beers. Do you guys down there have more ciders, or is that a Somerset thing?

Hehehe, I would like it if it isn't bitter๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜›. No off today so cannot have a beer๐Ÿ˜ฌ.
I also like the food๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ˜Œ.

Oh I think you would like, although I think the one last week you would prefer more.
Oh you were working, well probably not surprised since you had the wee holiday. Hope you still had fun.

never mind the beer which has a decent ABV...................

...........Spaghetti con carne what the fucking fuck fuck is that all about???????

0.00059306 BEE

lol Spaghetti con carne.. well I like spicy food so make a fucking mean ass chilli con carne, but when I can't be arsed with rice I have it with spaghetti. Hence spaghetti con carne, I find spag blog too mundane and boring.
I just call it spaghetti con carne and got a chuckle a couple of days when I was watching something on netflix and the guy said spaghetti con carne.

0E-8 BEE

Totally agree on the food choice, I mean anyone who eats a korma may as well just open a can of chicken soup.

Hello Kumusta !!! Wow its been quite a while I haven't drinkin beer so I think instead of keep sipping coffee lets change it into beer to chill this boring life of mine but Im wondering if the coffee shop does offers beer while working online :)
