How to play Splinterlands for free! [Beginners advice]

Hello everyone!
Today I am going to share some tips how you can (start to) play Splinterlands for free. As you probably already know by know, Splinterlands is a play2earn game which means you can earn tokens for playing the game. Though to be able to earn a huge amount of tokens, you have to invest in it. You have to buy a spellbook to be able to earn any rewards at all for example. Such a spellbook costs $10, which is a fair price in my opinion. If you want to purchase a game, $10 isn't much compared to other names in the industry.

When you have bought your spellbook, you're ready to play the game and start earning your rewards though to earn efficiently, you'll need some cards which will cost you DEC, dang, there is the problem for a lot of new players. Do I really want to use money to buy DEC for a cryptogame which is probably an total new aspect. I guess a lot of people reflect like I did when I found out about Splinterlands: don't want to put money into it. Luckily, Splinterlands is built on the Hive blockchain and Hive has a social media aspect as well. Besides that, the team behind Splinterlands is offering plenty of possibilities for you to earn something so you can use these earnings to buy Splinterlands cards for example. I already hear you thinking: How is that possible? Well, that's what I am going to try to explain to you in this article of today! So, let's dive into the world of contests which could reward you generously!

Splinterlands Social Media Challenge

This one is the easiest in my eyes, you can write an article about Splinterlands about a topic which is provided by the Splinterlands team, share it on your own social media outside of hive, let the staff know and BOOM, you'll be curated. I want to make some disclaimers though, I said it's the easiest, which is true for me but be certain you read the rules mentioned in their latest Social Media Challenge Article. Another pooint of attention is the quality of your article. This contest isn't a get rich quick scheme. You really have to put effort in your article. I am not sure there is a minimum word count you need to achieve, but a personal rule of thumb I try to follow, is to have atleast 500 words in your article. Often I surpass this easily though. Lastly, at most two entries per person per week could be made, to avoid abuse ofcourse.

Splinterlands Art Contest

Aren't you really a writer? No problem! There are other possibilities as well. For example the Splinterlands Art Contest. In this one you can create some fan art or just any art inspired by Splinterlands. It could really be anything. In the past, really anything has passed the review, so just go for it if you want to show off your artistic skills. Ofcourse here as well, it has to be your own work and you need to provide the different steps you take to get to the result. The images shown on the banner above are the winners of last week. Besides some juicy upvotes, you can receive some packs as well. These are definitely great for a beginner to start building your own deck of cards. Lastly I want to add that you can only make one submission per week. Here again, it's to give everyone a chanche to show their art.

Splinterlands Battle Mage Secrets

Not really an artist, nor in words or by other means? Again, no problem at all! Although, you'll probably have to write something but the main goal is to play the Splinterlands game to earn rewards through this contest. The concept is: You play games and later on describe one of these games which follow a certain ruleset given by the Splinterlands staff. For example, this week the ruleset is Armored Up. You can choose yourself how you describe your battle, as long as you describe it. Think hereby about describing your strategy, did it work out, which cards could have worked out better, did you enjoy the battle, would you have chosen different cards, knowing the outcome, etc. Here again, two entries could be made and you can earn some great upvotes.

Other Splinterlands contests

Besides all these writing contest, Splinterlands is often hosting other contests as well. At the moment of writing, there is a contest on X (former Twitter) ongoing where you can win booster packs. Again a good opportunity to build out your deck! To stay up-to-date with all the ongoing contests, it's best to follow the Splinterlands official account: @splinterlands.

Conclusion and TLDR

As you could have read, there are plenty of possibilities for everyone to earn stuff, mostly just by blogging about Splinterlands. Ofcourse you'll need to put some effort into the game, but it won't cost you money. While putting effort in the blogging, you can engage with others as well and you'll get to know awesome people from all over the world sharing a passion for this great game. I often try to summarize some important points, so will do it here again for those people who don't like to read longer texts.

TLDR

  • Write about Splinterlands and earn rewards
  • Maximum 2 upvotes / week / author
  • Create authentic content, NO PLAGIARISM
  • Put effort in your articles / art / blogs
  • Read here how to upgrade your lay-out

Thanks for reading my article and as always, feel free to ask any questions in the comments! I am glad to answer them. :)

How did I begin to play Splinterlands?

Source

It all began in December 2021, I was a bit bored and was looking for a new game to play on my laptop. After googling a bit, I saw the term play2earn in my google results. I didn't know it at that time but it seemed awesome, earning money while playing games instead of spending money on those games. Soon I learned that play2earn means that you can indeed earn some money to play the games. How does it work? While playing those games, you can earn NFT's of those games. These NFT's can be traded and sold for cryptocurrencies which could be swapped for fiat if you would like to. That's how I started.

Do you want to try out Splinterlands aswell?
