Hello, beer lovers! 🍻

It was still quite late; it was already dark when I returned from outside. I'm moderately tired and thirsty, so a beer will be an excellent end to the day, with the music still playing, reading the news on Hive, and commenting, but I have to concentrate on 362 #beersaturday, write the text, process the photos, and so on.

I just chilled two cans from the fridge: one Slovak and one Danish. I got them from different sources, one earlier and one later. I'm like a hamster: I collect these beers and then open them for #beersaturday, haha.

Corgoň Franciáš

Brewed by Heineken Slovensko, Hurbanovo, Slovakia.
Can, 0.5 l, alcohol 4.3% ABV, IBU 48.
It's a Bohemian Pilsener or Czech Pilsener-style beer with a long finish that features bready malt and hop character.

What do the Master Brewers say?

An honest draught lager with the highest bitterness, up to 48 IBUs of bitterness, balanced by the fullness of flavor of an 11% lager. Franciáš is named after the traditional method of rhythmic forging by three blacksmiths, symbolized in our lager by the three different hop varieties Aurora, Sladek, and Saaz used in the recipe. And it's these that give Franciáš its already legendary bitterness.

I got it from a friend who was in Slovakia. I don't know Slovak beers very well.

The beer is clear golden in color, with a solid head. It has no particular smell. A sip goes down the throat smoothly, and I immediately taste the bitterness of hops in my mouth, followed by the taste of bread and discreet hints of caramel.
In the aftertaste, however, an assertive bitterness lasts long.

A drinkable and refreshing beer. It is a standard lager with a distinctly bitter finish. Otherwise, nothing special.

My mother-in-law brought us mushrooms, which will be for lunch tomorrow. We will prepare mushroom goulash.

Amager/Surly Todd - The Axe Man

Brewed by Amager Bryghus, Kastrup, Denmark.
Can, 0.44 l, alcohol 6.5% ABV, IBU 100.
Double dry-hopped single malt IPA.

What do the Master Brewers say?

For quite some time the Amager crew has been discussing this question: which person is the most rock’n’roll in the whole craft beer world - is it Barnaby Struve of Three Floyds or is it Todd Haug of Surly Brewing? In the end it wasn’t really all that difficult to decide since only Todd has played for Laura Dern in a David Lynch movie (yeah, Nicolas Cage was in that same movie, but since when did he count?) AND Todd plays the guitar in both a speed metal band and a stoner band.
Add to that that Todd and his wife Linda are some of the nicest people to hang out with. So Todd, here’s to you: "Todd - The Axe Man" - a potent IPA loaded with fresh American aroma hops on a base of rich Golden Promise malt, Surly’s signature malt. Raise a glass to Todd, world class brewer - and master of the axe!

I didn't know these details from Wild At Heart. Nice.

The beer is cloudy, golden, and has an average head. It smells very fruity. The first sip goes down the throat smoothly, and the palate is dominated by hop bitterness, tropical fruit aromas, and pronounced citrus aromas, including lime, orange, tangerine, and pine.
The fruit aromas disappear in the aftertaste, and the hop bitterness lingers for some time.

A juicy, fruity, and very drinkable beer, I would keep a classic, balanced IPA in the fridge as a sample IPA for when a beer lover visits.
It is unavailable in local shops and only occasionally sold in a pub. I've tried two nearby, in Koper, Slovenia, and Rijeka, Croatia.
To go or not to go is now the question :)
