Let the music touch you - Dreem-WOTW S3 R3 contest

Have you ever wondered what factors influence our individual taste in music? Is it based on our individual personality traits, cognitive styles, culture, gender, age, or temporal patterns, or is it the genre or attributes of the music itself that affect our choice? Perhaps it's a combination of elements from both sides of the divide. Nayantara Dutta encourages us to consider all of these. Why do you like the Music you like? Science Weighs in

I have linked her article both above and at the end of this post if you are interested in reading further on these considerations as to why we find some music so impactful and the extent to which it moves us deeply - either emotionally, intellectually, spiritually, or physically.

With this in mind, this month's Dreem-WoTW invites you to write a post inspired by one of your favourite songs, or pieces of music. Please share a YouTube link to your chosen song/music, and a brief commentary as to why you chose it so that your readers can appreciate the piece while they read your submission 🥰

EDIT: Just to clarify, your post should consist of 3 things: YouTube link to your song/music choice, brief commentary as to why you chose that song/music eg: what it means to you, and finally, the piece inspired by the previous two parts of your post. This final part is the main part of your post and can be short story fiction, creative non-fiction, discursive essay, or poetry :-) the only requirement is that it is inspired directly by your chosen song/piece of music and that the link between the two is clear.

Note: If you would like to share the lyrics with your readers, you may share a link to the full written lyrics online but please do not quote more than two lines of lyrics within the body of your post, or you risk having your submission rejected by Dreemport for breaching Fair use guidelines and transgressing into Copyright infringement territory 😜

PLEASE NOTE THAT ANYONE WHO SUBMITS A POST FOR DREEM-WOTW THIS MONTH WILL EARN 2 POINTS TOWARDS THE DREEMER OF THE YEAR CONTEST.

This month the Dreemport submission date is:

Tuesday 28th November between 4 am UTC and 23h59 UTC

This means that you have the best part of 6 days to write and publish to your blog, but please note...

IT IS THE ONLY DATE AND TIMEFRAME WITHIN WHICH SUBMISSIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED FOR THE S3 R3 CONTEST IN DREEMPORT.

The curation/submission cycle starts and ends at these times so there is unfortunately little room for flexibility. All valid submissions to Dreemport will be reviewed and ranked by public curators the following day.

Part of the grading process includes an allocation of points for engagement... but engagement is only assessed if you do Dreemport curation of the contest posts in Dreemport on the day following the contest submission date. Simply log in to Dreemport on Wednesday 29th November, curate (ie: read and engage😜), and rank the 5 random contest posts assigned to you.

The top 5 in Dreemport will automatically be shortlisted for grading for dreem-wotw prizes, alongside other entries of merit put forward by members of the grading team. We will also be able to access the top 5 Dreemport staff entries in the background and will run two contest pools to keep staff and public entries separate 😊

The dreem-wotw team will then use a Merit grading system that incorporates some aspects of the ORIGINAL Merit Grading Model developed by @scholaris and others added by @juliamulcahy in order to determine the winners.

If there are fewer than 5 entries in the staff contest pool, the dreem-wotw grading team reserves the right to award prizes only to those staff entries that are clearly amongst the top-scoring entries, considering all entries in both pools.

If you have not used Dreemport before, you will need to register on dreemport.com, which is a quick and easy process.

You may publish in any community of your choice, Iska. Some will be inspired to write fiction and may choose Scholar and Scribe or The Ink Well to do so. Some may choose the music inspired community. Others may find a better fit in Silver Bloggers or Thoughtful Daily Post. It all depends on your perspective and choice of narrative and where you think it fits best for you and your blog. Nice one, Kingsleyy. I like to provide writing prompts and remits that stretch writers and encourage them to try something new. You should definitely jump into future challenges - you would be amazed at how it stretches you as a writer to try something new and scary hehe. Anyway, I thought this would be a fun challenge - easy enough for everyone to get on board and allow people the space to go deep if they choose or keep things light and fun if they prefer, and everyone gets to play to their own writing strength.I will add you to the list !ALIVE

I've made an account on Dreemport and have curated today's posts. It's a super interesting concept that I haven't seen on Hive before. The website seems to work really well. I will say that the videos on the instructional videos might be slightly out of day (there is no Daily Tasks button any more) but I still found them extremely helpful.

I'll look into the challenges in more detail. Thanks!

Fab! I'm glad you like it. You can curate and share a post Monday-Friday 4 am UTC to midnight UTC. The website effectively closes on the weekend for business to give Dreemport Staff a break and because our wonderful @dreemsteem believes that everyone should take some time out on the weekend for family 🥰 And yes, the videos are slightly out of date. The menu has evolved as new features have been added and you now find daily tasks effectively rolled into Earn Dreem. How did you come across Dreemport and the dreem-wotw post? 🤗

I actually run a social media platform that's intended to be a public good, where the creators can earn XRP cryptocurrency from the advertising revenue called gFam (short for global family) and noticed some traffic coming from Dreemport.com and so I popped over to have a look and really liked what I saw.

I've been looking at it for a bit, reading the FAQ, etc. I will spend more time checking it out this weekend and finding my way around 🤗. Thanks for sharing it with me! I see a few dreemers on there that I recognise! It's a really nice concept you have there, Adam - I hope it takes off! The nice thing about Dreemport is that it brings bloggers together from any blogging platform or personal blogs so the users of gFam could also use Dreemport to drive more traffic to their posts on gFam. If more gFamusers used Dreemport then as public curators (ie: you and I who curate on the Dreemport platform) get allocated posts that take them to the gFam site, more dreemers will be exposed to gFam too and may potentially sign up in order to engage, support, and share their own work. Then as more creators on gFam see comments/engagement from Dreemport users, they may get curious and decide to explore Dreemport too. So a nice cycle can be created.
