Walking Around Amadorio Lake...

I don't like cold... I think I said that a couple (of dozens πŸ˜ƒ) of times... I wasn't like that before when I lived in a much colder place... I didn't know for better... When I moved to live in Spain, it wasn't because of the weather, but that was a huge bonus... Yes, we do have over 300 sunny days in a year, it's not too hot in the summer, and we don't have snow and temperatures under zero... But, when winter comes, we have strong winds, and we have high humidity (during the whole year) which in combination with the wind creates a much colder feeling... And like everyone else in this globe, we have shorter daylight time during the winters...

01.jpg

That last one probably hurts me the most... In spring and summer, I usually go for walks in the afternoons... I do most of my work in the mornings and late at night so that I can do the walks during the afternoon, but in winter it's not like that... As there is no daylight (and sun) after 6 PM, the temperature drops rapidly and it's not that "cozy" to go for a walk... So, I skip one day, and go for a walk every second day... and I skip 2 days in a row, then 3 days... Then I get sick and I don't leave my home for a week!!!

02.jpg

After some time, my blog page looks like it looks right now... Crypto content is all over the place... It's not that it's bad, but I like to share some nature stuff too... It's relaxing me and I know that many of you like that too!!! So, I went into my "history folders" to search for photos from the past... At least, I can remind myself how it was and maybe motivate myself to go out again!!!

03.jpg

So, I found this great collection of photos that I took from a walk that I did exactly a year ago, in November 2022! You can see in the photos the Amadorio Lake, near Villajoyosa, Spain... It is one of my favorite places for a walk, but as it's not that close to my home, I used to go there maybe 4-5 times per year...

04.jpg

It is an artificial lake as you can see from the photo below, it has a big dam built around 60 years ago... The water is used as a supply of tap water for two cities, Villajoyosa and Benidorm... Despite being an artificial lake, nature around it is still astonishing...

05.jpg

As it doesn't have some historical monuments around, or a museum, bar, etc. there aren't too many visitors and tourists... As a matter of fact, after a 2-hour walk, we would meet maybe 3-4 persons in total... The dam itself isn't architectured to be under heavy load, so the road that goes over it is closed to traffic... Because of that, the roads that are leading to it, from both sides, almost don't have traffic at all! Exactly what I like! πŸ˜ƒ

06.jpg

The day was perfect for taking these wide landscape shots which I did, but unfortunately, after filtering out, there weren't too many left... Also, I like to take these closeups, like you can see below, with the pinecone...

07.jpg

08.jpg

09.jpg

There is an asphalt road that goes around the lake (photo below), but you can also go offroad and get closer to the lake finding these "secret" trails through the woods and reed...

10.jpg

11.jpg

12.jpg

13.jpg

14.jpg

When you can take photos of LONG shadows, you know that it is autumn... πŸ˜ƒ It was getting dark, and around this point, we decided to go back toward our car...

15.jpg

Oh, I remember now! The main idea for this walk was to take photos of the carob tree as I had an idea of creating a post about this magnificent tree (which I still haven't done!!!)... A lot of trees look like this one (photo above)... Almost dead, but still not giving up!!! New branches are growing, but I have no idea from where, as the trunk looks completely dead... That's the reason why I like it! It's never giving up!

16.jpg

17.jpg

18.jpg

The girl with an Ecency bag taking photos of nature... πŸ˜ƒ

19.jpg

20.jpg

21.jpg

As there are hills around, there are also two short tunnels from both sides of the bridge/dam... As with any other tunnels (especially if they are abandoned, without traffic), they are dark, full of graffiti, and stinky... πŸ˜ƒ So, I didn't take photos inside them...

22.jpg

23.jpg

24.jpg

Don't know why these flowers were there, but I suppose the reason was some unfortunate event from the past...

25.jpg

26.jpg

27.jpg

What would be a post by ph1102 if there weren't "sunrays-going-through-trees" photos? πŸ˜‚ I had a couple more like this, but this was the best one... :)

28.jpg

29.jpg

This banner contained information about the dam and its surroundings, plants, and animal life, but as you can see, it got forgotten, and after that, vandalized by people...

30.jpg

The last look at the lake, and going back home before it gets dark... I hope you enjoyed this short walk! I did, even a year after I took it!!! πŸ˜ƒ

Thank you for your time,

~ph~

I don't like cold either :) Winter has become a burden for me, can't wait tge sunny and warm/hot days. I think, I should move to the south of Turkiye. It might be the same as Spain πŸ˜„

That's a really cool and weird pinecone, I have never seen something like this :D
It looks like it has many eyes on it.

It is a young pinecone, after a few months it will "turn" into the "ordinary" pinecone that we all know... πŸ˜‰

I like winter over here, mostly it is just for a month or two, but it feels very relaxing, because the Summer is quite hot and average temperatures go over 40 C and unbearable humidity just kills.

I like your town and beauty around it, it quiet and serene out there.

Everything over 35 in the summer is a lot, and if you add humidity it gets even worse... We have temperatures like that, but maybe a few days in a year... Usually, it is around 30-33 in the summer...

Too bad the information was vandalized,
But the scenery of the dam was so nice, would be nice to fish there. : )

Oh, you can fish there, but it's a bit complicated with a fishing license... I do have one and I'm usually going fishing to another lake, as on this one, I have to have the license that I already have and I would have to buy another one, a daily license, specifically for this lake...

And, tbh. the other lake has more fish than this one... πŸ˜ƒ

So you need a fishing license over there for each place? That is interesting because here we can just go anywhere with the fishing rod, and start casting it wherever we feel like it.
But of course not in someone's fish pond, you might get in trouble fishing in someone's fish pond. haha !LOLZ

We have 1 fishing license for the "area" where I live, to be more exact, for the Valencian region, but some lakes (like this one) require additional daily permits... The other one, that I like more, doesn't... So I don't need anything more than my regular license...

Sound weird, but those are the rules...

I love frost and snow, when there is no wind and there is sun. And I noticed that when I walk every day, I don’t catch a cold, probably, walking strengthens the immune system.

I noticed that too! Walking is very healthy for our body, and if you can do it somewhere in nature, in fresh (not polluted) air, that's an additional bonus!

It looks like quite nice out there and I don't like the cold as much either, but I prefer that over the heat. At least I can put on more clothes. As for hidden trials, I generally try to skip them. I would be afraid of getting lost.

Hehehehe... there was not too much chance to get lost here... as the valley isn't that big and you get a clear picture of where you are when you climb on a bigger hill...

Almost dead, but still not giving up!!! New branches are growing

Maybe that tree understands that giving up means death (cutting it downπŸ˜…) well, that explains how we should all thrive in life. Always aiming to grow and not giving up. I like the tree for that feature.

That's exactly why I like it so much! It never gives up!
From that old trunk, new, young branches are growing over and over again...

Hey there!!

Absolutely loved the glimpse into your walk around Amadorio Lake, Spain! 😍 The tranquility captured in your photos is mesmerizing. It's fascinating how nature, even in artificial settings like the dam, maintains its beauty.

By the way, I'm from Venezuela, and recently, I had the chance to witness a breathtaking landscape from the skies while paragliding. If you're interested, feel free to check out my post on the experience. Nature truly has a way of rejuvenating the soul, no matter where you are. Keep sharing these fantastic moments!

I don't like the cold either, well....I think so. My point of comparison does not exist because Cuba is an eternal summer 🀣, but when the temperature has rarely gone down, I don't like it.

The place looks beautiful! Hopefully and you are willing to go out again even if you change the schedule of the walks. Happy Sunday.

What are the temperatures during the year in Cuba? The same in the summer and the winter or there is a slight difference?

Thanks for checking out my post!

The average annual temperature in Cuba should be around 25° C. The relative humidity is quite high. In the summer months the days are very hot, registering 35 degrees and even a little more. In the "winter" months the day is a little cooler and at night it gets a little cooler. We are almost in December and today in Havana we have had 24° almost all day, it will drop in the early morning to 22°. For tomorrow afternoon 29° is forecast. For us 3 days below 15° is extreme cold 🀣🀣🀣.

I'm looking out the window right now, the wind is blowing and the temperature is around zero...
Brrr.
I'm going to freeze now when I go to work πŸ˜€
Just a little bit to warm up to your pictures. Beautiful landscape of the lake. Even though it is November, considering that the lake is near Valencia (where I was a tourist at the end of November 2019), I remember sitting on the seashore in short sleeves and drinking coffee.
In the picture with a shadow, I see that you are wearing bermuda shorts πŸ˜€
Bless you, the climate there is phenomenal, especially for us, who don't like cold weather.

Hahahaa... You spotted that right... This year we have very similar weather and I do wear shorts these days too... It is a bit chilly in the shade, but you can easily sunbathe at the beach...

Valencia has great beaches too and we went a couple of times to walk around and to meet some friends...

Have a great week and wish you a sunny day! :)

Thanks for the wishes for a sunny day, but today there is none of that. cold, cloudy with occasional rain and wind πŸ₯Ά Only snow and ice are missing.
That's my reality for the next few months...
