700 Followers and Some Thursday Thoughts...

avatar

Someone will say... Not a big deal... Many other Hivers have a couple of thousands easily... Well, to be honest, it's not that big deal to collect 700 followers on Hive for a bit less than three years...

But, if someone told me just 4 years ago that I will create content on a blockchain-based blogging platform, I wouldn't believe it... I had dozens of websites before I got into crypto, and I was paying others to write posts for my blogs... They were niche blogs, where I would sell ads, links, blog posts, etc...

So, getting out there, and creating posts by myself was a huge step! An even bigger surprise was when I began with video blogs! Just to get the picture of how that was "out of my comfort zone", I still have photos from my childhood where I was crying to NOT BE PHOTOGRAPHED! :)

It's interesting that after these 3 years, I'm getting comments on how it's easy for me to power up x amount, or my account is small, I can't grow that fast as you, and similar comments... But, if you are a newbie here, you have to remember that everyone was in your skin once...

The first steps are to find a couple of communities where to post and where you will find friends... Friends that will guide you and show you the way at the beginning, and friends that are in a similar situation as you, that you can grow together... It's important that you have BOTH! You don't want to be a shadow of someone whole your life!

I came to this blockchain through Splinterlands, knowing ZERO people... Without support from big accounts (or whales), building my account by telling my truth and my opinion... Not conforming with others or pleasing them for upvotes or such... It is (was) a hard way, but a lot of people appreciate that... And I appreciate that in other people...

I will continue with my content creation in topics about cryptocurrencies, DeFi, investing tips, and some relaxing blog posts from my daily walks... Just to keep everything more casual and to reduce the levels of stress... 😃

In the end, I would like to thank every single of my followers and I really hope that you got some value from my posts... That is the main point and purpose of following others and I hope that I have fulfilled that purpose... Not every post can be a masterpiece, but if you have found 2-3 where you get something, I'm the happiest person! :)

Thank you for your valuable time,

~ph~

This is a big deal and one that few people think about.

There is a phrase I think applies "Don't compare your behind the scenes with their highlight reel" and another one "It takes ten years to become an overnight success" :D

hehehe... I like the second one... :) But, it is true that people just see what's in the shop window, but doesn't see the work behind it...

Thanks for checking out my post!

Congrats Zoltan.

I guess , I hit 600 yesterday. Interestingly most of the fan following happened after RS giveaway post.

Thanks!
I had the same situation on my gaming account where I have MORE followers than on my main account... 😂 It's the power of giveaways!

Congrats man! The thing about followers on Hive is that it's almost as irrelevant as the reputation for older accounts. I "follow" enough people without technically following them. Lately I don't even check my feed, because I don't have time, I only rely on notifications for authors I read.

Many of your declared followers (or mine) are dead accounts, while from the active readers and engagers, some may not even follow you technically. There should probably be an incentive to follow someone instead (or on top) of using the various notification systems.

Yeah, I do the same... That "Favourites feed" was a lifesaver... :) And I suppose that after launch, there was a huge run for followers as these old accounts have thousand (mostly inactive)...

I know that I had a number of followers in one of the #myhivegoals 2 years ago, but I quit chasing it... It's nice to have a big number, but I'm OK with a small, but valuable amount of friends here... ;)

Yeah, it was crazy the last couple of days with the Polycub launch... I was into that 100% but will come back slowly... :)

Thanks for your kind words!

You just gained 1 more follower! Hehe!
Could totally relate to your sharing. I started posting on Hive in Oct 2021, not knowing anybody here. My objective was just to get some SPT for the SPS airdrop points. One thing led to another and I discovered many different communities and made my friends online (especially during a pandemic when most of us are stuck indoors). Now I kinda think it's more fun to read, interact and write on Hive than playing Splinterlands sometimes.

Hahahaha... That happened to me, too... Sometimes, I hate playing Splinterlands, but checking others' posts and learning new stuff is always fun...

Thanks for the follow!
