Nigeria's Gubernatorial Election: When the sun rises on 18th March...

avatar

When the sun rises on Saturday, 18th March 2023, it will present an opportunity to Nigerians in several States within the country. An opportunity to be actively involved in the electoral process to exercise their franchise and stand a chance of voting their preferred candidate into Governorship positions.

This election was scheduled to hold on 11th March, but to nobody's surprise, it got postponed to a week later. The postponement announcement was made official in the mid-week of last week by Nigeria's Electoral Commission and they cited "logistics challenges" as a reason for the postponement.

Seems like trouble is already brewing. Isn't it? What are we expecting from this Gubernatorial election?

For the record, this is going to be a mix of Governorship and State Assembly elections. It's also important to note that our Presidential election was held three weeks ago and the result of that election is still filled with so many controversies. The case is still getting heated in Court and we are about to have another election.

One thing we've come to accept (whether we like it or not) is that elections are no longer free and fair. This fact is surely not a good look for a country like ours, but it's looking like anyone that wants to stand a chance of getting into political positions would have to be ready to get his hands sullied. Lobbying, vote buying and thuggery is the real tool used by the vast majority to get themselves into the political seats of their choice.

Of course, none of these would fly if Nigerians had a decent standard of living, but we don't. Things are really hard. So many people live from hand to mouth and a lot more has reached a point in their life where they can do anything for quick cash. This is why it is proving easier for Politicians to use money and entice people who are willing to sell their votes for cash.

As we edge closer to D-day for this upcoming election, all eyes will be on our electoral commission, Politicians and the electorates. There are already signals to show that trouble is being brewed for that faithful day. We will see how the whole stuff will unfold.

Thanks For Not Missing Any Full-stop Or Comma

I really hope the sun do rise on the said date.... Wouldn't love to see a repetition of what happened in the presidential election 😢

We really need to change the political story in our country..... It's not a good story anywhere at all

Exactly. The political arena in Nigeria is not a good look at all. There is nothing good about it. Just a bunch of depressing occurrences. They keep reoccurring. It's so weird

Nigeria! O my Nigeria.

I can't wait to see that time when corruption in all its ramifications will exist no more.
A time when the will of the people will supersede the will of a individual.

A time when we would respect court orders irrespective of who we are or what office(s) we occupy.

A time when the right things will look right and the wrong will be adjudged to be wrong.

I look forward to it.

That when election results will be the actual will that the people have displayed and desire.

My Nigeria is not having it fair at all.
The centre can no longer hold. Every thing is under alarm.

The grave silence that has occupied out streets after the presidential elections has indicated that we do not accept the anomalies that ravaged that election.

On Saturday, the people will troop out but are we sure they will have the urge to go what they did during the presidential election? When the ruling party is already humiliating people who voted for other political parties.

It is our Nigeria, we need to arise and take it back from these vultures and scavengers.

Exactly. The center can no longer hold. We are seeing a lot of chaos. Those who claim power are the same people that propagate mayhem in the country. It's insane. Even the Supreme Court and their supreme powers are being made an item of caricature.

What we see from the ruling parties is usually a situation where they turn against those who didn't give them votes.

The things that are wrong with this country are a lot and it's so sad to see that things are getting worse. If we can't even trust our Electoral Commission to be transparent enough in counting and announcing results, it just shows that the problem we have is already eating deep into the fabrics of this Country.

Nigeria is a country where wailing can be heard. It is saddening to see this.

You see this trouble that is brewing....I fear it so much

The whole thing is looking like it might take a hotter direction more than the presidential elections

Schools already sent memo that we should be alert and that they will monitor things before asking the students to resume...
Well,I have to be positive that no negativity will happen 🙏
Till Saturday
Let's watch the drama play out

Nigeria my country 😂

I think that's a very good move by the school. All parents will also be at peace while having their kids around them until the whole election drama dies down.

Safety first, every other things comes after. Hehe
