Death's Game (Kdrama); 12 Lives begets 12 Deaths.

Koreans have been doing a really good job with the TV shows they have been releasing. The list of Kdramas that surprised viewers is growing massively and their storytelling has been one of their outstanding features. For today's Movies and TV show review, I'm bringing a wholesome Kdrama to the limelight. The first half of this Kdrama was released on 15th December 2023 and the other was released on 5th January 2023.

Language: Korean

I've been watching Kdrama for a long time and I already know the sort of characters I expect to play a lead role in a Kdrama. These are people you would never see playing supporting roles. They are either the main character or they don't sign for a project. That's understandable although I've always imagined having a bunch of characters like that in a single show.

That's exactly what Death's Game did. They pulled their strings and used the captivating, exciting, and unique plot to tell a story where a young lad who committed suicide had to be punished by living 12 different lives in 12 different bodies. All the bodies he took in each of the 12 lives are the bodies of people who are about to experience death. So, in this Death's Game, the dude has to figure out how to avoid death while living the life of each body he enters.

What's rather interesting about this show is that they managed to pull the emotional string of viewers as we saw the young lad go through a hellish experience when he was alive. He has desperately searched for a job for 7 years after graduation. He often gets uninspiring feedback after each interview. He started doing very odd and multiple part-time jobs to make ends meet. He managed to save up some money which he invested but got scammed. He was also going through difficulties in his relationship and even got kicked out of his house.

With that level of hardship hitting him serially on a particular day, he decided that all hope was gone and drafted a suicide note before jumping off the roof of a building.

Is that a fair enough reason to commit suicide?

That's the big question although we all know that people have committed suicide for less. Well, Death didn't enjoy the mockery that was made about her in the suicide note that was left behind by the young lad. She decided to teach the dude a lesson about Death and that gave birth to the adventure of this Death's Game.

Check out the above trailer of the show. The first thing that got me hyped about this show is the theme of the story. This is a very unique theme which I'm yet to see in any other Kdrama. The second thing that got me on board was the cast list. Dammm!!! This cast list is buffed. And, as I expected, their performance in the show was phenomenal.

Seriously, this show is bananas, and in just 8 episodes? A typical Kdrama has 16 episodes. So, you can already imagine how tight the story is and how thickened the plot became as the story unfolded. The deaths in this show are done with an insane level of dark creativity.

The show explores a lot of dramatic themes. Things like bullying, revenge, betrayal, crime, serial killing, etc. The one that completely caught me off guard is the child abuse story. I can't even give more details about that. Just know that you are getting into a wild adventure if you decide to add this to your watchlist.

Thanks For Not Missing Any Full-stop or Comma.
