Lost magic ruleset in Splinterlands - Including Disintegrator in your lineup is almost a sure bet

Hey folks, as predicted the last week was a quite busy one for me and I did not get to write any earlier.
I tried to calm down on the weekend, however I am still in some kind of "get it done"-mode which I do not appreciate too much. ;)
Then integrating an image into this post gave me a really hard time on peakd, too. Anyone else ever encountered it? -For some reason there is always a lower part of the image just cut off... but only in Brave Browser... works on Chrome...

Anyways let us go back to Splinterlands. As far as I have read there were no big news. Last time I checked the current prices for Chaos Legion summoners prices still seem to be at the lower end.
So let us do something more joyful and try to learn something by looking at one of my past battles.

This week is about forbidden magic ;) Just kidding!
Or am I not? The ruleset of the week is called "Lost Magic" and it prevents you from using units with magic attack.

Fineprint reads: "Magic units may not be used in battle.

Use Thorns and Demoralize to counter melee attacks.
Use Headwinds and Return Fire to counter ranged attacks.
Units with 2 types of attack (which include magic) cannot be used."

This is one of my battles with Lost Magic ruleset:

setup.png

While I went with a Water Splinter setup my opponent went with Fire Splinter. Not a choice too bad as we will see however at first glance I would have estimated our chances to be rather equal.

round1.png

It was already in Round 1 that I was proven wrong. While my opponent increased its damage by his Tarsa summoner he decreased my melee damage by using Disintegrator.
As magic damage is ruled out by definition and ranged damage is somewhat limited in its use, including Disintegrator was a rather safe bet in this match.

round2.png

So even if it looked not too bad for me at the beginning my damage potential was rather limited and my front row would not be a able to even scratch the opponent's Antoid Platoon.

round8.png

Still I had some hope until my Kulu Swimhunter was gone.
Kulu managed to even take my opponent's Tenyii Striker off the board, but looking at my leftovers above it was obvious that I could not inflict any damage for the rest of the game.

round9lostscavo.png

It might have been a Draw with my Hireling endlessly repairing my tanks' armor, but due to some random ranged attack Scavo Hireling had left the field, as well. And then all was lost...

So I lost this match, but still chose this battle to share with you. Why?
-Because I want to emphasize on my opponent's decision to include Disintegrator in this match.

For me it is clear: I will include Disintegrator unit in future battles with "Lost Magic" ruleset because it seems like a sure bet for me and probably has a significant influence on the outcome of a match. If it not even it can have a very decisive influence on a match with this ruleset like we have seen above.
