Explosive Weaponry - Am I having a blast?

After two weeks of vacation I need to find my way back into the Splinterverse! And what could be a better entry for me than writing about Splinterlands? ;)

So let us have a look at the 'Explosive Weaponry' ruleset in Splinterlands!

'Explosive Weaponry' ruleset has the following description and fine-print: "All units gain the Blast ability.

Additional damage is equivalent to main damage divided by 2, rounded up.

Include a unit with Reflection Shield in your lineup to absorb blast damage and protect your back line."

So I am going to 'have a blast' in my next battle, eh? ;)
-Just kidding! Basically this ruleset is like: "All units deal blast damage, as well."

Let us have a look at one of my battles that included the "Explosive Weaponry" ruleset:

This battle comes from brawl format again (as mentioned before I still find it hard to find THE relevant battle for a given week's topic).

For this battle I had the idea to divert all damage to my Xenith monk and to use Oshannus as secondary tank.
My opponent had a similar idea of Oshannus, but generally did better. But let us look onto this later on.

When designing my lineup I made a mistake, though. Of course I paid attention to the 'Explosive Weaponry' ruleset! At least partially... Because in this battle there is an additional active ruleset which gives all units the 'Opporunity' ability.
This led to the situation that my water healing unit would attract all the hits.

This in turn led to the situation that all units adjacent to Merdaali Guardian would gain some damage by 'Explosive Weaponry', too.

This led to the next disaster: By the end of Round 1 I had already lost two units and had another 2 severely damaged.

So in the end it could not lead to anything ...

...but a loss for me. :(

Obviously it was not me 'having a blast' in this battle... I just did not pay enough attention to all the rulesets active in this battle!

However I think this battle is a good example why 'Explosive Weaponry' is a highly relevant ruleset which really turns the tide in any given battle!
