Punks have been going out for a price lower than mint

image.png

I did not participate in the minting on the Punks on Hive, but I started buying right after the mining event finished and at prices near mint prices.

Right now, though, some punks can be acquired for a price lower than it costed to mint them! The cheapest ones are going out for around 16 SWAP.HIVE, which I would buy if I had enough liquid HIVE. I have been buying the cheapest ones weekly as for the first time (that I know of) they are going below 20 SWAP.HIVE.

It is impressive because it was costing around 20 to mint them, which means someone is willing to realize their losses. It is understandable since sometimes we may need the cash, a friend of mine won a punk in a competition and happily sold it for cheap. I wouldn't, but luckily for us, buyers, there are people willing to do so.

Great opportunity for those who were looking to accumulate as many Punks on Hive as possible!

Nice explanation, thanks. Question, how did you know or check the cost to mint?

I was following when they were being minted. It was a long time ago and was around 20 or 25 SWAP.HIVE, I don't really remember exactly

The base price was 25 HIVE. They then had a sale during HIVE fest.

Since the punks are on the blockchain it should be possible to trace the sales history of each punk to see profits and loss. I haven't tried that.

Hive airdrops are coming and I'm guessing people would rather hold Hive than NFTs at least until the airdrop has ended.
