Ending the Highland Brewing Variety Pack with an Old Friend

A variety pack is a twelve pack of four different beers from the same brewery. And on this #beersaturday I am cracking open the last, but not the least, in fact this maybe the first!

So the story goes like this. Highland Brewing was the first craft brewery in Asheville, North Carolina. And the first beer that they brewed way back in 1994, when the @handofzara still had hair and before the Mrs. @handofzara and I had brought our first child into the world, was the Gaelic Ale.

Well technically speaking, our first born came into the world in 1994 the same year that the world was blessed with the Gaelic Ale. So the question is what came first, the Gaelic Ale or our blessed child?

Who knows the answer to that? Not I! What matters on this #beersaturday is that my angel of child is married and long gone from my house, and yet the Gaelic Ale remains. :) But not for long as the Gaelic Ale shall also be soon gone from my house.

My personal favorite photo of me enjoying Gaelic Ale by Highland Brewing that I took shortly after Christmas 2022. Good times with an old friend.

TRIVIA TIME!

What sort of Gaelic Ale worthy question can we ask tonight.

There is a saying, more of a whisper these days, but once proclaimed in the light of day. The saying goes like this:

"The American Republic was brewed in Scotland, bottled in Ireland and uncorked in the backwoods of America."

Over seven hundred years ago the nobles of Scotland gathered at Arbroath to Declare the Right of the Scottish Nation to choose their own King.

The Declaration of Arbroath was a template for the American Declaration of Independence, seeing as it was signed at a White House and all, see how history rhymes.

QUESTION: Who did the Scots declare their King?

How is that for a question on a Gaelic Ale #beersaturday.

Be brave of heart and I will see y'all next #beersaturday.
