In the Spotlight
Blocktrades offered an optimistic date by which the lite accounts and second layer transactions via smart contracts they are working on would be ready: the end of the year. Immediately after that he said this may be a too aggressive timeline, so I'd rather not think of this as a deadline. Not even close.
Some Hive applications being worked on by the core team are slowly coming together to a point where they can be presented publicly. Still a work in progress though.
Blocktrades mentioned Denser, the replacer of Condenser code using more modern Web technologies, may have a demo version ready for its blogging part (not the wallet part) by Hive Fest.
@gtg went one step further and uploaded the pre-released Denser on his website for semi-public review and feedback:
And I went a step further and added this to the spotlight section, lol. Remember, work in progress...
Seems like the decision was made to keep the same look of hive.blog rather than confuse users with a new look. Simplicity has its role too, and some people prefer it.
Here's another piece of the puzzle revealed. @mcfarhat's team has been contributing to the new block explorer app developed by the Blocktrades team, and he shared this instance they run themselves: hivescan.info.
This is the full transcript and recording of the meeting.
Marketing / Awareness / Branding
Hive participates at Blockchain Rio 2024, the largest innovation event in LATAM, next week (24-25 July), for the first time. We will have a booth and two speakers, @arlettemsalase and @starkerz. Here are the details (in Spanish).
I'd like to share two videos relevant to this topic.
In the first one, @starkerz presents them from the business and social perspectives, how Distriator's incentives can help onboard new people and can put the businesses that accept HBD in the spotlight.
The second video is a tutorial for adding a new business to Distriator.
There was also a recent CTT Podcast with Matt, @theycallmedan, and @alex-rourke, focused a lot on the Spend HBD topic.
Governance / Development / Dapps / Education
I loved the title on Gandalf's post, so I just used it here too.
This is a very handy guide for anyone rusty or as he said lazy who wants to run a Hive node.
Enough references to 'exchanges' in this guide, so maybe it is a resource they'll be point to when they have questions.
@aliento's project @encouragement made a very good guide on how to use sources on Hive in their series of Hive Basics. I admit I had no idea about some of the ways to use sources, particularly when it's video, since I don't do video on Hive.
The CLI part of Clive has been updated to include the Custom JSON operations. Here are more details.
Games
I already talked about Splinterlands proposals 4 times in 9 days on my blog, which is more than enough (I didn't even count until now), so this topic takes a back seat in this roundup.
There are a number of important proposals going on for Splinterlands right now, a few for the SPS.DAO and one for the DHF.
A Splinterlands town hall meeting took place yesterday, where I assume the proposals were also discussed, among many other topics. Haven't listened to it yet.
After many months, a new financial report from Holozing, which wasn't easy to put together precisely because many things changed between the report they compare with from January and now.
Meetings / Events / Communities
@HiveCuba created a newsletter for its members to keep them updated with what's going on on Hive and in their community. They are also focusing on HiveCubaCon.
Hive Philanthropy
Hurricane Beryl hit the Sucre State and particularly the Cumanacoa town. Hive Sucre teamed up with IMATUR and Hola Supercenter to help send some supplies to Cumanacoa. Here are all the details.
The #16 borehole project started in Dingoni, Ghana shortly after the previous one was completed. Initially, #15 & #16 were planned to be built together, but it looks like the geological surveys didn't give the go-ahead for the second borehole at the initial location.
@coldbeetrootsoup is asking the DHF for a small funding of 2650 HBD (over a period of 10 days) to purchase 10 computers for what is intended to become a Hive Hub in a classroom in a Venezuelan school which has recently been renovated also as a Hive (and Monero) funded project, where 2 computers were already bought and linked to the internet (which was a challenge). The proposal also intends to help the local contact @nahupku with basic life expenses while he focuses on the project. All the details come attached.
Will see if all websites that quote Tuesday as the day to start trading Etereum ETFs had the same sources and if they were right or not. But something is brewing... Here's one such article, but there are many.
Stripe will add support for USDC on Base across its suite of products and, in return, Coinbase will integrate Stripe's fiat-to-crypto onramps into Coinbase Wallet, which allow purchases with credit cards or Apple Pay. Read more here.
Hmm, looks like Base is the new BSC taken to another level, with the difference that Coinbase became the favorite CEX after Binance fell in disgrace of the US regulators.

First of all, how did you make the post outline on the left?
That's something PeakD does automatically. Takes your sections and subsections and turns them into the outline links.
The Hive borehole project is impressive, it’s great to see real, positive impacts happening on the ground.
It's true, it certainly impacts the local communities in Ghana which lack good sources of water, especially in the summer.
this is a pretty good initiative for the people, I see how glorious a future with Hive being big would look like. A lot of problems can be solved with proper funding

You will have many good hints about the future updates for the next week from @splinterladnds. There are some long awaited features getting ready.
You mean in the Town Hall meeting?
Yes. It was good to see some eye candy on what we were promised a long time ago.

Lots of good stuff, Hive Rio sounds like fun. I haven't been to Rio in years now! Distriator is looking better and better. I look forward to be able to spend HBD in the real world, plus onboarding is such a necessity for all of us here on Hive. There is a lot going on!
Brazil could be a big market for Hive. As would be Argentina.
Yeah, I like where they are going with this. Looks like they are taking feedback from the field and push it into a working product. That's great to see!
Sadly I've lost contact with most of my old friends in Argentina or I would try to get them signed up!

The Hive Node setup seemed very easy and interesting. I don't have the specs and rig for it, but I might check it out again in the future once I do. I'm a bit sad that the blocktrades lite accounts are a bit farther off than I expected.
Yeah, it would be great to see more Hive nodes maintained on personal equipment, rather than on services like Privex, to avoid, to some degree, the centralization risk this poses.
Initially, I think Blocktrades said lite accounts will be out pretty quickly (before the full smart contracts platform). I guess they reconsidered.
It sounds like the developers are slowing working away at the new changes and that is good news. The post about stock images/music/videos seems like a good thing for new users and current users.
The one about quoting sources? Yep, that's something from the basic education on Hive.
Thank no you very much for the news
I am mainly interested in the Hive borehole
You're welcome.
