Chaos Legion Voucher Chaos

avatar

I published my Chaos Packs Strategy yesterday.
I made some wrong assumptions, @adulruna highlighted the significant problems with that plan and now I am back to square 1.

My understanding is now that there will be 3 Phases:

  • phase 1: Presale
You will need vouchers per pack, get a chance for some rare presale rewards
    (1 million packs)
  • phase 2: Public Sale with Vouchers
You will need vouchers per pack, voucher drop rate doubled, no rare rewards
    (2 million packs)
  • phase 3: Public Sale
The last 2 million packs are being sold without Vouchers

Total of 5 million packs.

A single Voucher sells for ~19$, the packs are always 4$ ... = 23$/Chaos Pack.
Yet, you can buy them on the market for ~9$/pack.
Also, Chaos supply is 33,333, while at the middle of presale ~500,000 vouchers should be in circulation. That would mean, less than 10% of the vouchers have been redeemed.

This is all very confusing.

At a doubled drop rate and with less value to be redeemed with it (no presale benefit), the normal vouchers should trade at ~10$. That is still 14$ for a pack, then.

When they came up with this, did anyone expect the vouchers ending up being worth more than the actual pack?

This morning, I found this post:

https://peakd.com/hive-13323/@bulldog1205/byhduvvh

In the video, he says packs in phase 3 might be sold privately, in 100k $ stacks.
I am not convinced, but I also think the 2 million packs will be sold out fast and that could cause some unfairness or even technological problems... not sure.

I am seriously considering to just buy the packs on the market and be done with it.

9$/pack

Seems like a good price, considering everything.
How is a pack half the price of a voucher?

There's a catch if you want to buy packs from Hive Engine instead directly from the game. You don't get the airdrop cards, that's why the packs are cheaper on Hive Engine. Those airdrop cards get unlocked when certain amount of packs get sold. In Untamed edition many of those airdrops were the most overpowered cards in the set, the same might happen in Chaos.

Not sure what you mean with that, but I mentioned the rare rewards in phase 1.
I will not buy a significant amount of packs, when the total for a single pack is @ ~20$ - the chances for me are just to slim.

I just want to get the normal packs for as cheap as possible.

There are 10 other airdrop cards that are not part of presale which only includes Doctor Blight. You won't get those if you buy packs from HE.

I bought 200 Untamed Packs from Hive Engine probably a year ago and those packs were not included in the airdrop.

Ok then. It is good that you are informed on that part because you can get fucked if you're not aware on that small detail.

I think it's 12 million being sold in the final stage - although by the time some are sold in private deals it may well be down to 2 million for ordinary players.

I think you might be right that selling vouchers and buying them from the secondary market works if you're only buying a few packs, possibly.

The perks you get for taking part in the pre-sale are only worth it if you're going in hard - like really hard - I actually bought 650 VOUCHER to take my drop up to 1000, although I only had to buy around 850 packs as the bonus ones for a bulk purchase took me up to 1000.

It may sound crazy, but with the extra SPS drop I get for the title and holding the packs and the guaranteed GLF and the regular promo cards and the extra chance of getting the future airdropped cards ("like they did with Yodin etc) and selling off most of the rest of my vouchers then believe it or not spending around $6K early on VOUCHER makes it worthwhile.

But unless you are literally spending several thousand (like over $5K) you're probably not going to benefit from the perks.

With the land purchase you had to spend around $1K for a tract, which conferred significant benefits now it's 5-10 times that, otherwise just get whatever you can as cheap as you can is I think the way this works.

The saddest thing about this game is that what I regard as 'going in hard' - I'm probably going to spend $10K all in on Chaos packs - Aggy wouldn't even give me the time of day for that kind of investment, I'm firmly in the 'pleb investors' category even with that.

I was going to go 'hard' with 7k US$...

Well, I just want the packs, and perhaps open some, to at least advance a league...
I just want to play a little bit for the fun of it and to understand it better as an investment. The title is out of the question for me.

Whether it be 5 or 12 mio packs is quite an important information and the explanations around it on splinterlands.com are pretty weak.

If I've understood correctly the CL packs purchased from Hive Engine don't contribute towards getting promo cards, only packs bought from the Splinterlands store. I can't figure why anyone would by them for $9 when you can purchase them later for $3.6 when public sale starts.

By the time of writing this, my understanding was there were only 2mio packs left for 'normal' public sale (and that maybe a big chunk of them would be sold under the table) - so I expected them to be sold out very quickly.

Now I've been told it will be 12 mio. packs in total.

It really is very confusing all that about the packages, you must have a clear idea of what you want to buy and how you are going to achieve it. So as not to have mistakes
