The @engage1up account is designed to fuel the most important part of any online tribe or community...Engagement!
The 1UP team delegated 50,000 ONEUP tokens to this account and it's sole focus is to reward and encourage engagement in the form of discussions and comments.
Yes, this is not a content curation project instead it's a comment curation project :)
Each day, the @engage1up project will be tracking and monitoring all the comments on the tribe's front end and rewarding the most active and engaging community members with upvotes.

This iniative is being run seperately from the 1UP team, however they gave us full support in the form of delegating to encourage you guys to create some amazing conversations on chain.
We have a lot of ideas as well, for rewarding the top commentors each and every week, and this will develop over time. But for now...To earn some upvotes, simple....Spark some conversations!
(Example of the tracking we are doing, obviously this is counting other tags before the launch of 1UP, but next week it'll be unique to the ONEUP tag)
We will be on 1up.zone every day, looking for the members bringing the most engagement and discussions to the posts!

Specs, stats and stuff:
The 1UP team delegated 50,000 ONEUP power to this initiative. Which is from the original 30% reserved for airdrops and bounties. This represents 20% of the allocated supply from this reserve.
Comments like 'nice post' or low value comments like 'great' will not count for the tracking. The purpose of the engagement tracker is to find the community members adding the most value to the conversations!

We know there have been plenty of curation projects out there, we hope this initiative helps the comment side of things here on 1UP! There's plenty more coming for the community and we can't wait to see where this tribe will be in a few months from now.

I've always said that comments and engagement are the currency of choice for content creators. Hope this projects helps in that currency and the tokens too LOL

Nah, we're compeltely seperate from ABH's engagement league. But we're hoping to model a lot of his tracking into what we do.

Engagement here is definitely highly important and so many people are absolutely astounded that I can bombing in to say something positive.

I love this. Will you somehow be tracking all comments or does a person have to sign up to be considered? Either way, I tend to be sporadic in my engagement, but it is nice to know that it is noticed and/or appreciated. I notice sometimes that there are articles with huge numbers of upvotes and no comments. I am quite new, but I think, if it were me, I would want comments, so I try, when possible to leave a comment along with my tiny upvote.
Nope, it's all tracked via the blockchain and a little tool we created to monitor it all.

Sounds like a very worthwhile endeavor! Engagement definitely matters, and it's by far the best way to create actual community, rather than just a bunch of people "posting stuff!"

Kinda sorta...I mean, we will run around every day and upvote comments regardless. But we're thinking of doing full upvotes for the top 10 at the end of the week.

This is a great initiative to give more value to interaction on posts. With linear reward curve, comments have the same value than posts. Why not create comments, engange and also upvote these comments.

We hope that people see that as well, it can be quite rewarding to hang out and talk shop in the comment sections!!
Interesting to read about that at how it's more profitable to earn from engagement than from post authorship.
I would say it can be at least as profitable. If you are new to the blockchain and you don't have much followers, it can be a good strategy to follow bigger fishes that upvote comments on their posts and just do that.

But how will the vote be made? Is it manual or is there something running on some kind of script, algorithm?
@amr008 had something like this in the POB that excluded certain types of words and comments, but over time many accounts appeared spamming comments that just read the title and in a way that "spoofed" the rewards system. Since he ended the project in the tribe, engagement has dropped, however, today they are more real and organic.
I believe if it's something more manual voting, it shouldn't happen... I think.
Right now, it's all manual. I'm handling it along with my team from our tribe. And yeah, we're monitoring it to count only comments that have actual content and substance to it for sure :)
This is actually a very smart initiative. There isn't much incentive, on the Hive network as a whole, to engage through comments as people usually have a very low default voting power for comments (like 5% or 10%).
But, as an author / content creator, receiving comments and engagement is what makes us happy 😅
That's the problem...If people are going to put the effort into commenting, we feel they should be acknowledged. And rewarded :)
It sounds like a great initiative. I really look forward to engaging in this community. Online gaming has always been a facination of mine and now it has shifted to the Play2Earn space. The combination of playing games, collecting NFT and then creating content and engaging about them is pure genuis.
It's so cool and we think 1UP is the perfect home for everyone's passions here on the chain!

Engagement is key and comments voting comes with a lot of additional benefits (tag agnostic ;-) ). Anyway, I hope play2earn will find a community here. I am into some of the games currently offered on HIVE and I am happy to share my experiences and discuss them. Wish you all the best, the luck and the success :-)
This is such a cool initiative, some people may not create a lot of content, but do consume a lot of content created by others, plus engage. Perfect solution to reward these people as well!

Great intiative to help spice engagement in the 1up community. This would help users to interact at their very best regarding new games and their new discoveries in games they play.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I do remember Leofinance having a similar engaging-type blog post and rewarding the most active members like shown on the list.
#oneup is coming up with a better concept of getting rewards for each comment in addition to rewarding the top commentators! Perks of being in the early days in a solid project and stack up ONEUP tokens as much as possible.
