ᴇᴠᴀʟᴜᴀᴛɪɴɢ ᴍʏ ʟᴇᴀʀɴɪɴɢ ᴘᴀᴛᴛᴇʀɴ: ɪᴛs ᴜᴘs ᴀɴᴅ ᴅᴏᴡɴs.

Learning is a continuous process in a human life, it is one of the most constant phase every human must pass through and adapt to, when I say "constant" I meant the learning phase never ends. Often times, it is said that learning can only be achieved when a human being is willing to learn but that is not entirely true. There are some things in life we need to focus on to learn and this is mostly about matters of academics. Having to pass through the formal process of learning which requires the willingness of a human to study the material provided in order to be enlightened.

But then, there are somethings we learn in life through either formal or informal education, this things we never truly show the willingness to know it but we know it anyway. That is how complex the human mind is, sometimes it forces us to learn somethings for the sake of our survival. Imagine a non athletic person being chased by a wild animal, such person might not be a runner but at that moment he/she will manifest the ability and might even run faster than any athlete. You would wonder how such person manage to learn how to run but it is nothing extraordinary, that is just a person trying his/her best to survive.

As an individual learning has always been easy for me because I have fast assimilation, retentive memory and a photographic memory. This simply means that it is easy for me to understand what I have read, I don't easily forget what I have read and I don't forget what I have seen. Among it all the one I cherished the most has always been having a photographic memory, I don't really know how to explain it scientifically but this is how it works, imagine being in an exam hall answering questions but you did not read a particular topic but you remember flipping through the pages where the topic was. For the fact that I flipped through those pages without reading them, my mind allows me to go back to that moment when I was flipping those pages as if I'm watching a movie by doing that I get to notice things that I didn't read but I have seen. sometimes it feels like I'm reading the textbook while I'm in the exam hall.

Though after I discovered how my mind process imagery, I spent time to nurture the skill. All this has really helped me a lot through all the stages of acquiring formal education. I remember during my HND 1 second semester we did statistics which is considered a borrowed course for mass communication student. Imagine a mass communication student doing statistics, it was so frustrating. The most annoying thing about this course is that it has a lot of formula that is attached to each topic. Everyone was lamenting about how hard it was for them to assimilate the formulas, I knew it will be a little difficult but I was not scared because I knew what I was going to do and I believed in myself.

On the night before statistics exam, everyone was panicking. A lot of my friends went to sleep over and some went to tutorial but I didn't. I knew I need two things, silence and a lot of food, due to that I refused to allow anyone sleep over in my house and I went out to buy food, most especially Suya {Roasted meat}. When I got back, I took my statistics text book and went through it page by page like I was reading a story book, it was not as if I was reading it word for word, just making sure my eyes scans through every words in a page. It was weird thing to do but I knew how my brain works.

On the day of the exam, everyone was looking so serious because they have crammed a lot of formulas, so thay can't afford to do anything that will make them forget but that wasn't the case for me, I was busy jumping from sit to the other gossiping. I'm sure some people would have thought This guy is not serious with his life". Immediately the exam starts, just as we expected the questions wasn't funny at all but for the first 20 minutes I entered the exam hall I did not attempt any question, I just kept writing each formula for all the questions asked at the back of my answer booklet. Since all the formula is sorted out, answering the questions became a lot easier. I ended up collecting extra sheet in the exam hall and I managed to attend to the questions I needed to answer before the time runs out, in fact I came out earlier than expected.

I said earlier that there are some things we learn not because we are willing to but because our survival depends on it. I have said it many times that I had issues expressing myself as a kid, I can be categorised as an introvert but it was more extreme. I couldn't find the right words for me to illustrate the exact way I was feeling. It was as if there was no word for it. This really affected me a lot as a child, I don't relate with people because I felt they wouldn't understand.

The only way I could express myself was through writing but it wasn't the regular type of writing like writing a dairy, It was more like a poem but I didn't know what it was, neither could I comprehend the complexity of literary writing. I just knew I was writing something only I could understand and relate to. By the time I was in Senior secondary school by then I have already written a lot of poems, that was when I discovered what it was because we started taking literature class.

Whenever we were given assignment to come up with a literary writing, I just modernize one of my poems and submit. My literature teacher always wondered how I knew how to write poems but I couldn't give her any logical explanation. I remember those days whenever I'm called to read my poems in front of the whole class, it was really hard for me to do but my literature teacher kept encouraging me so I did and I'm quite sure I made a lot of ladies blush.

Over the years I got better at writing poems by learning the basics and application of figures of speech, it was easier because I already knew how to put the words together so I didn't learn how to write poems, I learnt how to get better at it.

ᴛʜᴇ ᴍᴏsᴛ ᴅɪғғɪᴄᴜʟᴛ ᴛʜɪɴɢ ɪ ᴇᴠᴇʀ ʟᴇᴀʀɴᴛ.

Despite all my abilities that aided my capability to learn, there is one thing in particular that I was quite sure that I was never going to know a thing about it but I did. I'm one of the most curious being on earth which is why I always strive to learn things even if I don't need it but then I realised that if I'm not curious about something it makes it almost impossible for me learn. Definitely my learning abilities depends on My interest. I have known about crypto for years but I tried as much as possible not to have anything to do with it. The whole concept of crypto has a way of disorientating my brain, the complexity of it was something my brain could not comprehend for a long time and what made it worse was that I had no interest in it.

There comes hive blockchain that changes my perspective of crypto. The primary reason I decided to join hive blockchain was because I wanted to have a place I could publish my poems for others to read but gradually I discovered there was more to it than a writing platform. Eventually when I discovered how complex it was including the crypto aspect of it, I kind of abandoned by hive account for almost two years before returning back to it. It kind of took me awhile to develop my interest in crypto which happens as a result of my consistent usage of hive blockchain.

Last week I made a post about crypto investment, after I published it, a part of me was like "who would believe that I will someday be dishing out knowledge about crypto currency".

  • Know yourself: All my life, I have always been on a journey of self discovery, the more I know my self - the more I'm aware of what I'm capable of. Due to this it made it easier for me to realise what works for me and what doesn't. While others are trying so hard to imitate abilities and skills they don't possess, I choose to be me and focus on discovering the abilities I have. Every human has different abilities and skill set which makes us unique but most people are jealous of what others can do and in the process they forget to nurture their own abilities.

  • Nothing is impossible to learn: When I was in school, my mathematics teacher would say "Hate me as much as you can but don't allow your hatred for me affect your ability to learn the subject". The reason why most people dislike mathematics is either because they hate the teacher or they hate the subject which kind of just kills their interest that could have increased their capacity to learn the subject. As long you find a way to reestablish your interest in something learning it becomes a lot easier.

This write-up was inspired by weekly featured content titled "Is Learning that hard" in hive learners community.

Nothing is impossible to learn, love that!! Everything is possible if only we set our minds to it, knowing one's self is the best thing so far, cause once we know ourselves it will enable us to focus more on our interests and hobbies so we don't engage in things we don't like. I can tell you love writing from your post.

Learning is a daily activity in all humans' life. It's something we can't put an end to. For one to succeed and survive, learning must be his or her top activity.

You are quite lucky to have such a rare memory, making learning very easy for you. While others are cramming heaven and earth, you are relaxed 😎.

I never had any interest in crypto world either. I saw it as a plane which will keep crashing non-stop, despite all that people around me say. But joining hive changed my perspective completely.
Once the mind is set, nothing is impossible to learn but a lot of people find it hard to learn because their interest is not in it.

I really find it difficult to believe you never had interest in crypto, seeing how you trade on binance like it is your play ground 😅

Haaa
Well, it's always risky but now, no more p2p on binance for Nigerians

It's now through other exchanges which doesn't look simple at all

Yeah I know but once someone has the knowledge of how P2P works on binance, it will be easier for such person to operate it on any exchange platform.

I really love the aspect of the adrenaline rush in the post intro. No one will teach you how to run 😂.

And yeah I also do say it that knowledge and learning most time is always about interest. If you don’t like what you are learning you will always find yourself struggling in that aspect.

You did well in literature because you love writing poems and that stood a way forward for you.

Really interesting read here. Thanks for sharing

The human body is built on survival, that is the only explanation why I was heavily pregnant, weak and exhausted but ran run faster than Usain Bolt when I saw a snake crawling on its belly and minding it's business 😂.

Truly learning is not hard, we just need to find our area of interest.

Wow! You recognised the special kind of memory you have been gifted with quite early. It is amazing that you even nurtured it to your advantage.
And I love the lessons you shared: know yourself, then believe that nothing is impossible to learn. This is absolutely correct.

Well I believe every human is unique, all I did was acknowledged my own potentials and use it to my advantage.

You must be very intelligent to have a photographic memory, and, indeed, many people do not like mathematics, I believe it's because of the teacher involved haha while some just naturally have fear for the subject but if we are determined we can learn anything we set our heart to learn.

I don't really know about being very intelligent 😅, I'm just the kind of person that takes advantage of my own potentials.

Having a photographic memory is a blessing. I don't think learning is that hard if you out your mind to it. You're a natural poet and you were determined to learn about crypto and you did.

I really found your post on crypto enlightening by the way. I hope to learn more as time goes on.
